Question about Cars & Trucks

2 Answers

Hi, I bought a car a year ago with remote start installed & working, but I've forgotten how to "arm" it, or whatever you call it when it's ready to go. My vehicle is a Rav4 w manual transmission. The # on the key fob is FCC ID: NAHTDK4. I remember I had to ***do something*** while pushing the lightning bolt button (starter button) on the fob while the at was running, and wait for the clickclickclickclick before shutting off the ignition. I used it a few times last winter but it was not always convenient as it had to be the last thing I did, opening doors disarmed the system. (Hence I have forgotten the program)

Easyest way is to find where is the car alarm box located on yiur car. And find out who made it and get a serial nr . Then go to manufacture web page and download a users manual. Remote starts are not all the same as you can get a cheep ine from china but the quality ones normaly are the tricky ones to play with

The best alarm system only last about 5 to 7 years. If you bought a cheap one, pull it out. Every time I run into a security problem and they have aftermarket alarms/ remote starts. They come out. I'll get the car working right, but if want the alarm. You have to take it back to the place that sold it and installed it. Most likely you have to buy another alarm system.

My 2002 gmc envoy starts with remote but will not crank with keys

The remote start bypasses the ignition portion of the antitheft security system to allow you to remotely start the truck. But the system still needs the signal from the key to allow the vehicle to remain running and drive. I would assume the ignition is bad or needs to be trained to the system if it was replaced.

Remote starter on a 2004 Accord with V6 engine

remote starter is designed to shut down the vehicle if there is no key to drive with. This is a security feature so that unauthorzed drivers cannot steal it. to answer second question the purpose of remote starters is to allow you to heat up the vehicle so it is an ice cube when you are ready to drive. Not sure what remote I cannot answer the horn question. Need more on what remote starter you have model number and make

Factory remote starter

I would suggest you obtain the install instructions from the dealer and check that it was wired into the system correctly. Another thought is that the remote needs to be programmed, that was a common issue when I worked for a Ford dealer.
