I changed the plugs and wires and now it wont start

either you messed up the firing order/put the wires back wrong or you got the wrong plugs. if the guy at the parts store talked you into buying the more expensive platinum/or splitfire/or high performance plug. that could be your problem. I used to work as a mechanic in a dealer garage. YOU SHOULD NEVER USE ANY OTHER PLUG BESIDES THE ONE THAT CAME AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT IN YOUR CAR WHEN IT WAS NEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In your case with a pontiac I beleive that would be A/C Delco/ or A/C or Autolite. If you used the proper plugs then you need to find an diagram of the proper firing order for your car/engine. you could ask at the parts store/ look online, or get a chiltons manual.

You replaced the Plugs Wires in the wrong
firing order ?

Sort of creates a timing issue & causes the
exhaust to get hot

Other causes, vacuum leaks in to exhaust
or rich fuel mixture, but not to the point of red hot

A brake light fuse keeps popping. Also we started it last night and wire harness caught on fire. The wires are not bare and some of the harness is melted.

your either going to have to either get a new harness or go to the junkyard and cut one out and resplice. get a haynes or chilton for the lincoln now and study the wiring or go to autozone for colors(its free to sign up and look stuff up) your going to have to find the harness in the trunk and figure out where the short occured along the line. sounds like someone prob put a 30 amp in the brake lights and cooked that wire. you may have to make a new dedicated brake light line with a relay out of a fog light set or eqivalent. I wouldnt use the old brake light wire. carry a fire extinguisher now. dont drive it with a cooked harness. if its a 3.8 v6 keep the oil changed and buy an upscale filter(wix) .

I have a 2000 Lincoln Towncar. The air-conditioner compressor broke and also broke that big belt. A guy that lives near replaced the compressor and belt but now nothing electric works!!!! whats wrong!!!!!...

He may have accidently knocked some wires loose during the install or when your belt flew off the pullies it hit some wires and broke them. Check for wire damage around the pullies.

Engine wont stay running

you're running rich, the cylinders get flooded with fuel and won't fire. stepping on the gas blows out the excess fuel. take it to the dealer and have the mixture adjusted.

2000 lincoln ls will not idle

i have had this problem in two diferent cars. on one the firing order of the plug wires was messed up and on the other the timing was off by just a little bit, with both problems the only time it was an issue was at idle.
it may not be what's wrong with yours but you may try checking the firing order diagram and compare it to the car and also try hooking up a timing light to it and make sure the timing is where it needs to be.
