SOURCE: Defective tachometer and speedometer

Do the following:1)key in the ON position:remove the 7.5 gauge fuse.Tach needle should read "0:". 2)put it back,go on the engine and unplug the green plug on the igniter -the big one, with 5 or 6 wires on it.The needle on tach reading should be zero.If not you have a short circuit on the black wire between that plug and the plug on the conbination meter.3) If the reading is zero with the plug disconnected, the black wire for the tach is short-circuited inside the igniter. I have one available.email daddykouki@gmail.com

SOURCE: Speedometer error?

Many cars have an error on the speed indicated. 10% sounds quite high, next time you buy tyres go for one size bigger or the next profile up, eg, if you are using 70 series go to 75 or 80. That will sort your problem out and you will get better fuel consumption. You can have the speedo calibrated but I would thing that the cost or effort wonuldn't justify the result.

I pulled needle off of speedometer, now it doesn't read the right speed, example: You go 70 and it reads 10

You did something illegal too. You messed with the speedometer. You will have to get a new one from the dealer and file the change out paperwork with the DMV. If you don't do that then you'll be in deeper trouble with the state.

Speedometer not reading right speed in Toyota Tercel.

Have you changed tires/wheels to a different size than was originally specified for this car? That will throw the calibration of your speedometer off. Sometimes the onboard computer can be adjusted to fix this, but you need garage professional programming equipment to do something like this if it is possible to do at all. Otherwise, if your speedometer is off and you haven't changed anything, it may need to be replaced, or the sensor on your drivewheels. Check with a mechanic.

Well i'm going 60 mph but my speedometer read 70 plus for avery mile that i travel the meter read 1 1/3 so my car is gona hit 1k if i still friving like that?

In most cars especially those older models, the speed sensor for the speedometer is located in the transmission. Check for physical wear on the cable that leads from the transmission to the back of the dashboard. If you have increased the size of the tires dramatically, the actual car speed would be slower then the speedometer. Either the components responsible for measuring speed (speed cable, dashboard, speedsensor) is damaged or tire size or transmission parts or the transmission itself was replaced.

2002 toyota camary speedometer and odometer readings, on my 2002 camary LE my speedometer reads 70 mph but actualy i'm going around 67mph, and as for the odometer on meassured mile i checked on a 10 mile...

have you changed the tires or rims from the original size?? If so, your vehicle's ECU will need to be re-calibrated so that the computer will adapt to these changes.

Have you called transmission place? Did they also install it? Ask them if they changed speedometer adapter, and mention the difference in speed.
