How to reinstall battery cables and battery tray

I have just finished replacing my clutch and I'm at the point where all I have to is reconnect battery cables and battery tray but the person who took the tray and cables off isn't here and I have no idea where the ground cable bolts to or how the tray goes in. I cant find any videos or pictures of how to reinstall

Negative side of battery goes to ground. Usually the battery cables are sized differently so that you don't make a mistake. Regarding the battery tray you have to state the make/model of the vehicle.

I have a 1997 saturn sc2 im trying to bleed the clutch slave cylinder


In this car, there is no bleed port provided. The hydraulic clutch system is closed and is sold only as a complete set of master, reservoir, slave, and line. The set is priced at $130 at autozone.com. I have pasted the replacement instructions from autozone.com below. Please let me know if you have more questions.

See Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4
The master cylinder, pipes and slave cylinder are a complete assembly and must be replaced as a single unit.
  1. Block the clutch pedal to prevent it from being depressed while the slave cylinder is removed from the transaxle.
  2. Remove the air cleaner/intake duct assembly.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable first, then the positive cable.
  4. Remove the battery hold-down retainer.
  5. Remove the battery from the vehicle. Store the battery in a safe location, but do not place it on a concrete surface for any long period of time or it will discharge.
  6. Remove the battery tray. Note that one battery tray mounting fastener is only accessible through the fender well.
  7. Rotate the slave cylinder about 1 / 4 turn counterclockwise while pushing toward the bell housing, in order to disengage the connector and remove the cylinder from the clutch housing. Remove the slave cylinder bracket retaining nuts and pull the assembly from the studs.
  8. If equipped with ABS, remove the brake master cylinder-to-power booster mounting nuts. Move the master cylinder off of the mounting studs and slightly toward the engine, being careful not to bend or kink the brake lines.
  9. Remove the master cylinder pushrod retaining clip from the clutch pedal pin and disconnect the pushrod from the pedal.
  10. Rotate the clutch cylinder about 1 / 8 turn clockwise and remove it from the instrument panel. Remove the hydraulic assembly from the vehicle.

To install:
  1. Install the clutch master cylinder into the dashboard with the reservoir leaning toward the driver' fender. Rotate the cylinder about 1 / 8 turn counterclockwise to lock it in position.

When installing a new assembly, the plastic retainer straps should remain in place on the slave cylinder, to ensure that the actuator rod seats on the release fork pocket upon installation. If reinstalling an assembly, be sure to position a new plastic retainer strap onto the end of the pushrod and attach the straps to the cylinder.
  1. If equipped with ABS, place the brake master cylinder into position on the power booster mounting studs. Install and tighten the master cylinder-to-power booster mounting nuts to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  2. Slide the slave cylinder onto the clutch housing studs, then install the nuts and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  3. Insert the slave cylinder into the clutch housing with the hydraulic line facing down and rotate about 1 / 4 turn clockwise while pushing it into the housing.
  4. Lubricate the clutch pedal pin with silicone grease, then connect the pushrod to the clutch pedal and install the retaining clip.
  5. Install the battery tray. Tighten the battery tray mounting fasteners to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  6. Place the battery into the battery tray. Be careful that the battery terminals do not short against any metal during the installation.
  7. Install the battery hold-down retainer.
  8. Connect the positive battery cable first, then the negative cable.
  9. Install the air cleaner/intake duct assembly.
  10. Remove the block from behind the clutch pedal and, if equipped, properly enable the SIR system.
  11. Start the engine and check the pedal for proper operation.

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM BLEEDING The clutch hydraulic assembly has been filled with fluid and bled of air at the factory. Do not attempt to bleed the hydraulic system. While the unit does not require periodic checking, it must be serviced, when necessary, as a complete assembly. The system is full when the reservoir is half full.
Only DOT 3 brake fluid should be added to the system. If the fluid level drops, inspect the system, including the slave cylinder, for leakage. A slight wetting of the slave cylinder surface is normal. Fill the clutch master cylinder reservoir with brake fluid. Be careful not to spill brake fluid on the painted surface of the vehicle.

How to install battery in new battery


Place the DeVille in "Park" and allow the vehicle components to cool for a half hour.

Locate the battery under the hood of the DeVille. The battery tray is located on the driver side of the Cadillac. Locate the strap securing the battery to the battery tray and unbuckle the strap.

Disconnect the negative cable using a combination wrench. The negative cable is the black cable. Place the cable to the side. Disconnect the positive cable next, which is the red cable, and place it to the side. The battery can now be removed. Lift the battery off of the battery tray, carefully. Dispose of the battery per local regulations.

Use a wire brush and clean rag to clear away debris and dirt on the battery tray to ensure a clean connection.

Install the replacement battery by placing it on the battery tray. Buckle the battery tray harness around the battery. Reconnect the red cable, followed by the black cable, using the combination wrench. Close the hood of the DeVille.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION 2.0L SOHC Engine With Automatic Transaxle; 2.4L Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the left strut tower. The ground cable is equipped with a insulator grommet which should be placed on the stud to prevent the negative battery cable from accidentally grounding.
  2. Remove the air cleaner resonator.
  3. Remove the 3 bolts attaching the Transmission Control Module (TCM). Do not disconnect the TCM wiring. Move the TCM to gain access to the upper starter mounting bolt.
  4. Remove the upper starter mounting bolt.
  5. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  6. Remove the positive battery cable nut and disconnect the cable from the starter.
  7. Disconnect the push-on solenoid connector.
  8. Remove the lower mounting bolt that attaches the starter to the transaxle.

    To install:
  10. Install the starter onto the transaxle and the lower mounting bolt.
  11. Tighten the mounting bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm). NOTE: Before reconnecting the wiring to the starter solenoid, be sure to clean the wiring of any dirt or corrosion.
  12. Reconnect the positive battery cable to the solenoid post and tighten the retaining nut to 90 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  13. Reconnect the push-on solenoid connector.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Reinstall the upper attaching bolt and torque to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  16. Reinstall the TCM to its original location and install the mounting screws.
  17. Reinstall the air cleaner resonator.
  18. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
2.5L (VIN N) Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Most vehicles will require the removal of the front exhaust pipe. Use penetrating oil on the fasteners to ease removal.
  3. Disconnect the starter motor electrical connections.

    To install:
  5. Clean both surfaces of the starter motor flange and the rear plate. This is important since the starter grounds through its case and the transaxle flange to which it attached. Some remanufactured starters may have paint on these areas which should be cleaned off before installation. Install the starter motor onto the transaxle and secure with the retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 20–25 ft. lbs. (26–33 Nm).
  6. Connect the electrical harness connectors to the starter.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable and check the starter for proper operation.
2.5L (VIN H) Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the left strut tower. The ground cable is equipped with an insulator grommet which should be placed on the stud to prevent the negative battery cable from accidentally grounding.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Loosen, but do not remove, the exhaust pipe-to-manifold retaining nuts.
  4. Place a drain pan under the oil filter to prevent oil spillage, then remove the oil filter. For additional details, refer to Section 1. Fig. 5: Loosen the exhaust pipe-to-manifold retaining nuts to provide removal clearance for the starter 90902p01.jpg

  5. Remove the positive battery cable retaining nut and battery cable from the starter.
  6. Disconnect the push-on solenoid connector.
  7. Remove the 3 bolts that attach the starter unit to the transaxle.
  8. Pull the exhaust pipe down just enough to provide clearance for the starter motor. The exhaust pipe does not have to be separated from the pipe-to-manifold threaded studs.

    To install:
  10. Install the starter unit onto the transaxle and install the 3 mounting bolts.
  11. Tighten the mounting bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm). NOTE: Before reconnecting any wiring to the starter solenoid, clean the wire terminals of any dirt or corrosion.
  12. Reconnect the positive battery terminal and retaining nut to the starter solenoid post. Tighten the retaining nut to 90 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  13. Reconnect the push-on solenoid connector.
  14. Reinstall the oil filter.
  15. Lower the vehicle.
  16. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

CHANGED WATER PUMP NOW THE TRUCK DON'T WANT TO TURN OVER?


Did you disconnect/reconnect battery? Do you have power? Are all the drive belts properly routed and tightened? Is coolant/water levels full? How bad did the truck overheat before you changed the water pump? If the truck was running fine before you changed the water pump, then double check that you properly reinstalled and reconnected all components you removed to gain access to the pump. Make sure your battery connections are secure and properly charged. If you didn't disconnect the battery when replacing pump, it's a possibility at some point you could have shorted the battery to ground and blew a fuse. Check all of your main fuses, then check all other fuses.

Otherwise, even if you installed a bad water pump, it has nothing to do with truck turning over. The only possibilities are that engine froze before changing pump, drive belts not properly reinstalled/secured, components not properly reinstalled or connected, or battery shorted and blew a fuse, or fuses. Let me know how it goes.

2.0L DOHC Engine
See Figure 4
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the starter motor electrical connections.
  3. Remove the starter motor mounting bolts and remove the starter.

To install:
  1. Clean both surfaces of the starter motor flange and the rear plate. This is important since the starter grounds through its case and the transaxle flange to which it attached. Some remanufactured starters may have paint on these areas which should be cleaned off before installation. Install the starter motor onto the transaxle and secure with the retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  2. Attach the electrical harness connectors to the starter.
  3. Connect the negative battery cable and check the starter for proper operation.

2.0L SOHC Engine With Manual Transaxle
See Figures 4 and 5
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the left strut tower. The ground cable is equipped with a insulator grommet which should be placed on the stud to prevent the negative battery cable from accidentally grounding.
  2. Remove the air cleaner resonator.
  3. Remove the positive battery cable retaining nut from the starter.
  4. Disconnect the positive battery cable and alternator output wire from the starter.
  5. Disconnect the push-on solenoid connector from the starter.
  6. Remove the 2 bolts that attach the starter to the transaxle.
  7. Remove the starter from the vehicle.

  1. Install the starter and the attaching bolts to the transaxle assembly.
  2. Tighten the attaching bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).

Clean all dirt and/or corrosion from the wire terminals before reconnecting the wiring to the solenoid.
  1. Reconnect the push-on solenoid connector to the starter.
  2. Reconnect the alternator output wire and positive battery cable to the starter and tighten the retaining nut to 90 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  3. Install the air cleaner resonator.
  4. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

2.0L SOHC Engine With Automatic Transaxle; 2.4L Engine
See Figures 4, 5 and 6

Is it difficult to change the battery in my 2005 fifehundred


Dear Chuckbognann,
Changing the battery in your 500 is straight forward. You need to make sure you have your radio code if you have that type of system. The first step is to disconnect the negative cable end,then the positive.
Remove the battery hold down and pull the battery up to remove it from the tray. While the battery is out,use water and baking soda to clean acid off the cable ends as necessary.Make sure you wash it out of the engine compartment. Now replace the battery and reinstall the hold down. Replace the positive cable end and tighten it down. Then replace the negative.
After you have completed this,you may experience some minor drive-ability concerns until the computer relearns shift points and throttle position for different loads. This should clear up in 10 miles or so of normal driving.

How to replace clutch on 1971 beetle


you will need to unbolt support bar, and bellhousing bolts. Pull back tranny, drop and you will have access to clutch and bolts. Make sure to use the plastic alignment tool when installing the new one.

How to relace clutch cable on 1995 saab se 900 turboon saab 900se


1. Remove the battery.
2. Remove the clutch cable end from the clutch arm end at the wire stop.
3. Slide out the rubber doughnut from the gearbox housing which holds the clutch cable
4. Move the distribution box nut and the alarm pin attached to it (some modules)
5. Disconnect the clutch cable holder from the fender and the data link holder.
6. Remove the drivers lower panel below the steering wheel and remove the air duct as well as the knee shield.
7. Slide out the fuse box holder and ICE Box (should be a black box with many wires going to it). You can remove the instrument cluster at this point but you can also do this without removing the cluster with a little patience
8. Move the pedal spring to one side and remove the eye catch for the cable.
9. Remove the clutch cable by pulling it out from the engine compartment
10. Reinstall in the reverse. Saab actually came out with a bulletin which Needed one to install two washers at the back of the new cable instead of one. The factory cable comes with one but you can remove the 2nd washer off the old cable and install it on the new cable so two exist. This helps take up excessive pedal slack.

A month ago I bought A used 2000 elantra it used to start fpr the first try In the same time I changed the engine oil and Trying to put a good battery when I finished it did not start.


Verify (test) the battery is good/charged. Verify good, clean cable connections (positive & negative, correct polarity). Inspect positive and negative cables for loosness (positive cable condition to starter connection - clean/tight) negative cable condition to ground connection clean/tight). Replace/repair/clean/tighten cable(s) as needed. Did you remove/disconnect any components from the engine when you replaced the battery? If so, did you remember to put/reconnect them back?

It's a very simple job.
Disconnect battery.
Disconnect electrical connector to MAF sensor.
Remove (unbolt) MAF from air duct.
Install new MAF.
Reconnect electrical connector.
Reconnect battery.
Finished!
