Is it misfiring? If so it's likely to be plug leads or plugs, if not these try a coil pack.

Have a opel astra H 1.8 sport 2004 model which is jerking and it starts emmediately from when you start the car and continues while driving the car, continues to jerk as if it is being starved of fuel

you may need to change your fuel filter. its easily accessible under the hood. it is usually wrapped in a medal protective cover. but its easy to pop off.

My vw polo classic 1.6 1998 jerkes when taking of in 1st gear but once in second it runs smoothlly

If you have a 4 or 5 speed transmission, and have to use a clutch, try letting the clutch pedal up more slowly. If it's an automatic, only a mechanic can adjust the problem for you. Sometimes a mechanical non-automatic clutch gets oily or dirty, which can also cause that kind of jerkiness and chatter. See if you can take it to a car wash where they have a lift which can take the car into the air and blow very hot soapy water into the clutch area, to try and clean it of oil, etc.

When you give it some gas (when first starting) it jerks and loses power. I thought it would be the tranny wrong. Then I thought maybe the fuel pump wrong(had that replaced twice already) Thought just...

If the vehicle is an automatic and you start it and it jerks, there is something wrong with the transistor on the transmission which is somehow allowing it to engage a drive gear hence the losing power since the engine is trying to start while it is gear, cant turn over fully and fast enough to start with it in gear or slightly in gear. I would advise having a mechanic look at the transmission, might require an overhaul or just a transistor. Good Luck.

VW Polo Classic, fuel efficiency problem

Has the car been serviced recently?
If not I would suggest getting it done. Not sure if you have diesel or petrol, but oil can thicken causing more load on the motor and airfilters get blocked and can cause a rich fuel mixture.

If petrol you can take out the plugs to check if they are a light brown colour, if very dark or black you need to check and adjust carb/injection settings/filter.Need to know what engine it is really.
