Question about 1993 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

I have a used Camry 1993. The PWR light on the dash stays on. When I press the button on the center console to turn it on, it gets slightly brighter. When I press it again to turn it off, it gets slightly dimmer, but I don't think the way it changes gears is affected. I tried playing with the switch, but to no avail. I think the transmission is stuck in PWR mode. In cruise control on the freeway today, it was not shifting into overdrive and I was running 60mph at 3000 rpm. How do I fix this? Where should I start? Any info would be helpful.

SOURCE: how to use the overdrive on the auto.transmission.

the overdrive button on your automatic transmission is for cruising on the highway basically like having another gear for better economy careful not to use it when your not on the highway because lugging the car in overdrive when its not needed will cause higher fuel consumption other than that you should have no problems just get out on the highway and push and away you go

On My 1998 Toyota Camy when the car is on my brakes lights wont go off but if the car its off the brake light work fine why??

These Toyotas had daytime running lights. The headlights and the taillights turn on when you start the car. If you press the brake pedal, the rear lights (and the brake light in the rear window) should come on brighter.

I have never heard of the brake light staying on (The brighter filament in the two-filament bulb). Hope this helps.

PWR light is on dash, what does this mean ?

This light usually indicates that you have selected the power option for your transmission shift pattern(normal or pwr)

There is a button on the center console or the shifter that selects pwr or normal trany shifting, if pressing the button again does not change the light than the button or wiring may be defective and require further diagnosing

1993 blazer parking brake light won't shut off

Are you sure the brake light (on the dash) is on because of the parking brake ?
Try this. Watch the brake light and at the same time set your parking brake. If the light seems to get slightly brighter then it isn't on due to the parking brake it is on for another reason.
If it does not get brighter then you need to look at the parking brake switch down by the parking brake as it may be grounded out causing the light to be on.
Be sure to check the brake fluid level. If it is low on brake fluid it will turn the light on also.

On my 1993 toyota camry, green pwr light stays on

there should be a switch that says power/econ the light means you have it set for power ,find the button and push it and it will read econ, it is usually a green button on the center console.this changes the shift characteristics of your vehicle.

1993 toyota camry power light in dash on

The PWR light is controlled by a switch located near the shifter...when you press it down, it turns on that light in the instrument cluster...when the PWR is on, you will have faster acceleration while taking off from a standstill

if u did turn it off the button is stuffed if the ligt stays on

pwr makes the car rev higher to get a quicker start off and when power is off it makes it rev lower and change though the gears normal
if it stays on you will waste lots of fuel
