Ac compressor making loud noises and my instrument cluster all of a sudden quit working

Get out your owners manual and locate the power relay for the AC and remove it, this will stop the AC clutch from engaging the compressor, note, AC is used in winter to help remove moisture when defrost is on you may have to roll window down to prevent fogging, also check for blown fuse in manual bet you find one for instrument cluster, good luck,Bret

I have a short somewhere that causes all my gages to not work. What do I look for

Check the instrument cluster fuse in the fuse panel. The solution maybe as simple as replacing a bad fuse. You can buy a replace fuse at the auto parts but do not downsize or upsize the rating of the fuse. Keep the fuse rating the same as the one you are replacing.

Gages on the dash quit working is this a fuse problem

the instrument cluster has a fuse that provides power to it. look for the fuse in the fuse box on the bottom left driver side, just underneath the panel. or below the light switch behind the panel.

I have a 2004 sebring that i bought new. the instrument cluster lights dont work, i checked interior fuses number 7 and 11 that relate to the instrument cluster illumination. they seem to be fine.

If the fuses are good there should be a dial that adjusts the brightness of the dash panel. If this dial doesn't work then the bulbs for the dash panel might be blown out.

Lights out on steering wheel instruments of 200 Taurus

It sounds like you have some bulbs burned out in the cluster and cruise switches. I don't think you can just replace the bulbs in the switch. You can replace bulbs in the instrument cluster.
