No if it starts by key it sounds like fob may need new battery or if you look under dash you will see small toggle switch. you may have hit the switch into the disable position try flipping the switch other way and see if that works

1996 suzuki sidekick will not crank over, lost speed & stopped. new battery and spark plugs. any one have any idea if it has that hidden switch I cant find it. Any ideas on what it could be?

Hidden switch for what ?Fuel cut off ,doesn't have one ! An what do you mean won't crank over ? The engine does not turn over when you turn the key to the start position . Or the engine will turn over with key in start position an won't start an run ! If it does turn over with the key in start position , is there spark at plug wire . Do you know how to test for spark , an does it have fuel pressure ! You have to find out what is missing ,which means electrical testing with a volt ohm meter . Find a wiring diagram www.bbbind.com go on youtube an check out some videos on trouble shooting . Don't look for a magical fix , there aren't any !

I have a 2006 grand jeep cherokee SRT-8. I

my guess is you mean the engine does not crank
all engines that fail to crank will never start. (mine can be push starter and gravity started but mine are manual trans cars)
so ill guess this is a A?t transmission, AUTOMATIC.)
the first thing to do would be to get a AAA jumper start with jumper cables. off a running other car..
yes, cranks ,that mans your new battery is dead or JUST DISCHARGED.
no?, then that means the starter system is failing, (bingo?)

  1. IF car has IMMO, (SKIM, etc) immobilizer then the lamp in the dash tells you (by glowing) this system sees a bad key or is faulting and the operators guide tells you what to do. (no its ok)
  2. clean the battery lugs yet, this is a service on all cars.
  3. wiggle the gear shifter and crank, work now, no.
  4. try cranking in Neutral, , does it crank now>?? no.
  5. i hot wire the starter solenoid, does it crank now? yes, bad key line, but no means bad starter.
if you get the far, and is bad key line, we can go farther.
the PNRLD switch on the side of the transmission can be bad.
or just a simple bad connection. there. easy to find with a voltmeter.

Can a bad switch cause my starter to go out?

Starter to go out means what, wear out mechanically
or electrically,then no

Starter Solenoid on the starter with burned contacts, then yes,
the starter won't work

Ignition Switch,Neutral Safety Switch & many other items not
working,then yes,the starter won't work

Occaisionally won't sat, get a single click. can rool car backwards and throw into reverse and then will turn over. is this the starter relay going bad.

When you have an automatic trans, rolling the vehicle in gear does nothing to the engine. The engine has to be running to make the trans pump produce pressure to engage the clutches.
It's possible moving the shifter is what is making the starter work.
I would check the neutral safety switch circuit.

My blazer trys to start but wont turn over and its not every time some times it will some times it wont. i had the fuel filter changed in it cause someone told me to try that but there is no differece.

by not turning over i`m guessing that you mean the engine won`t crank over,if you mean won`t start when the engine turns over then that is a different path of diagnosis.if you mean that it starts to turn crank over but stops almost immediately then this could be a weak battery,or bad starter with a bad spot in the starter, that`s why it will start sometimes and sometimes not as the starter hits and misses stopping on the bad spot.if you mean it cranks over fine but will not start then this could be a fuel pump going bad,a dirty throttle body,a bad crank of cam sensor, these usually set a code in the computer and sometimes turns on the check engine light sometimes not.you should have the computer checked for codes to see if there is any,or just a wiring problem for the ignition system

The starter just stopped working when you turn the key, the battery is good everthing else work's fine, It just stopped for no apparent reason?

Check the earth wire going from the negative battery cable to the starter motor. If it has 'furr' on it, remove both wires and clean them with a wire brush.

Next, try starting it in gear to make sure the starter is engaging the flywheel, it should lurch forward (after you do the procedure above) If not, the finger of the starter could be damaged, meaning a new starter motor is needed.

I have a 2001 maximum and it just stop working last night. The battery works good but the car just makes a clickin sound. I mean it wont turn over or anything

NORMALLY THAT CLICKING NOISE MEANS THAT YOUR BATTERY DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH JUICE TO ENGAGE THE STARTER,THE CLICKING IS YOUR STARTER SOLENOID TRYING TO MAKE A CONNECTION SO POWER CAN GET TO THE STARTER MOTOR,IT COULD ALSO BE A BAD SOLENOID AND OR STARTER.
IF IT TURNS OUT TO BE THE BATTERY YOU MAY HAVE A SHORT SOMEWHERE DRAINING THE BATTERY WHILE IT SITS OR YOUR ALTERNATOR IS BAD AND NOT KEEPING IT CHARGED SUFFICIENTLY.

When i turn the key dash lights come on wont turn over

Sound like it might be the neutral safety switch solenoid going bad or sticking. This switch opens (denies current to) the starter circuit when the transmission is in any gear but Neutral or Park on automatic transmissions. If you find that you have to move the shifter away from park or neutral to get the car to start, it usually means that this switch needs adjustment.
