What is the function of the transducer? Stuck in "Limp In Mode"

Changed master & gov solenoids. Checked wiring, relays and fuses. Forgot tranducer. Could that be the problem? Code P0753 thrown

A transducer is a sensor that does not need to make physical contact with what is is trying to sense. It can be used to detect the presence or position of something; on boats they are used to sense the distance to the bottom to determine the depth of the water.

These devices are typically employed to provide feedback - or "prove" that a command has completed or component is in the right place ie: A command to shift from position "A" to position "B" will be halted when the transducer at position "B" detects the presence of the shifter.

If the transducer is unable to detect the shifter at "B" or falsely detects that the shifter is always at "B" - it can cause problems. The device (computer or controller) that interprets the transducer output has no way of knowing if the shift has completed or not and can decide do something to limit damage to the motor, transmission, etc.

You need to find out the transaxle strategy for going into
limp mode
You need a trans shop or a dealer
Have it towed on a rollback ,not flat towed or driven

Trans stuck in limp mode i'm getting a p1751 code


P 1751 Shift Solenoid" A" performance. The solenoid is part of the transmission valve body and yes if this solenoid fails you will get limp mode.The only solution is a new solenoid may be even the wires to it or even the transmission module

Dodge ram 2500 transmission relay isn't working right


The relay has pin ID on it lets use that. CAV 30 is B+ which is 12 volts, Cavity 85 is transmission control relay. Cavity 86 is Generator source. Cavity 87 is transmission control relay output. Cavity 87A is not used. open that relay and exposed the relay control see if it engages on its own if not collapse it see if you get out of limp mode.

Symptom:

P-0748 GOV PRESSURE SOL CONTROL/TRANS RELAY CIRCUITS

When Monitored and Set Condition:

P-0748 GOV PRESSURE SOL CONTROL/TRANS RELAY CIRCUITS

When Monitored: Continuously with the key on.

Set Condition: This code is set if the voltage detected on the Governor Pressure Solenoid

Control Circuit at the PCM is different than the expected voltage for 4.8 seconds.

You have four fault code there...

Code 11
Description: Engine not cranked since last reset or no ignition reference signal detected during cranking
Power loss light: Off
Limp-in mode: None

Possible Causes:
Engine hasn't been cranked since last reset - Power was removed from the logic module (disconnected or dead battery, etc.) and the logic module has no memory of seeing a signal from the ignition reference sensor. Crank the engine and check for the code again. If the logic module saw a signal, the code will be cleared. This code will not show up if the sensor simply fails. The logic module must be reset and the engine cranked to see if the sensor is working.

Bad connection or wiring - Check the wiring and connections between the hall effect sensor (located underneath the distributer cap) and the logic module. Check the continuity of the two 3 conductor cables coming out of the sensor--these are prone to fatiguing and breaking inside the insulation where they exit the sensor if the cables are not properly tied down. You may be able to resolder them. Clean and regrease any corroded connectors with dielectric grease and repair any shorts. This code will not show up if the sensor simply fails. The logic module must be reset and the engine cranked to see if the sensor is working (see above).

Hall effect sensor failure- Check the ignition reference sensor and fuel injector sync sensor cables. They are the two, flat 3 conductor cables coming out of the sensor at the base of the distributer cap. These often fatigue where they exit from the sensor. Upon replacing the sensor, make sure the cables are clipped or tied to the distributor cap shroud (or elsewhere) so they do not swing around. This code will not show up if the sensor simply fails. The logic module must be reset and the engine cranked to see if the sensor is working (see above).


Code 23
Notes: For throttle body injected (N/A) models only

Description: Throttle body temperature sensor signal out of range
Power loss light: On
Limp-in mode: Throttle body temperature of 70^F is assumed

Possible Causes
Throttle body temperature sensor failure - The sensor should measure 9,120 ohms to 10,880 ohms at 77^F. This sensor is located on the side of the throttle body, below the throttle plate.

Bad connection or wiring - Check the wiring and connections between the sensor and the logic module (or SMEC). Clean and regrease any corroded connectors with dielectric grease.

Diagnostic Method
Trigger Parameters
- Sensor output less than 0.06V or greater than 4.98V
Results If Component Fails
Fault code 23 is stored, the power loss light is turned on, and the logic module will enter limp-in mode, assuming a throttle body temperature of 70^F.

Code 32
Description: Logic module did not see a change in air/fuel ratio when EGR circuit was activated
Power loss light: Off
Limp-in mode: None

Possible Causes
EGR valve stuck open or closed - If the vehicle fails emmisions, then the valve may be shut. If the enigne runs poorly at low rpm or at idle, the valve may be stuck open. It may be the valve or the transducer valve. Test the transducer valve vacuum output. At idle, the transducer valve vacuum should be mostly bled, and there should be very little, if any vacuum at the output. When the engine is revved, the vacuum should increase. If the transducer is functioning properly, replace the EGR valve.

Bad EGR solenoid or Canister purge/EGR solenoid - The solenoid is located in the right, front fender next to one to three other solenoids. See the Understanding Solenoids page for information about how to test and repair solenoids.

Bad connection or wiring - Check the wiring and connections between the solenoid and the logic module (or SMEC). Clean and regrease any corroded connectors with dielectric grease and repair any shorts.

Results If Component Fails
Fault code 32 is stored.

Code 55
Description: End of message
Power loss light: Off
Limp-in mode: None

Possible Causes
No further fault codes are stored. If this is the only code received, then there are no codes stored in memory. This code will always be given, even if nothing is wrong. If you do not get this code, then you may not be retreiving the codes properly, or the power loss light may be burnt out. The light should come on for 1 second when the ignition is initally turned on as a bulb test.

Transmission (1994 astro van ) shifts fine sometimes and other times feels like it stuck in 4th gear. i changed the filter and flushed the trans.Whats up with that?


Its more likely the tranny shift solenoids or the power wire going to the tranny. If the tranny loses its ignition feed (12Volts) it will default into limp home mode. This means neither shift solenoid has power and will be in the off position. When both shift solenoids are in the off position this is normally third gear. It will be very labored taking off from a stop being in third gear, but will allow you to still move (thus limp home). Astro vans were not known for it, however full size pickups with the same engine and tranny, would experience a bad ignition switch. It would disable the tranny circuit and no power would get to it, same symptoms. If it sometimes works it won't be a bad fuse, best to have it diagnosed at a reliable transmission shop to verify. Its not as expensive as a tranny overhaul.

Changed gov.speed solenoid&gov.pressure solenoid and it still doe's not shift at times?


Have the torque converter lockup relay switch checked, might be faulty.
This is not a fix, just a suggestion.

THERE MUST BE SOME FAULT CODES STORED IN TCM..WHEN A FAULT OCCURS,THE TCM SHUTS THE POWER FEED OFF TO THE SHIFT SOLENOIDS IN THE SOLENOID PACK SO ALL YOU HAVE IS SECOND GEAR(LIMP MODE)..IS YOUR SPEEDOMETER WORKING?IF NOT IT MAY BE THE OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR IS BAD..YOU SHOULD GET TCM SCANNED FOR FAULT CODES..I HOPE THIS HELPS

Blowing Gauge Fuse & Stuck in limp mode


I have the same problem and I have not yet found the solution. I am going to start by checking the wiring to the trans from the ecu but I doubt that is the problem. I am going to take a look at the shift solenoids, vss, range mode selector and torque converter clutch solenoid. Any ideas?
