How do i change the battery in a Peugeot 308

If you buy a new battery, most stores will help you replace it. you will need a ratchet set to remove the positive and negative ends of the terminal. you should remove the positive end first. and for the new one, add the negative end first.

Corroded fuse connection.Interior lights are on the same fuse.Pull cover off the fuse panel, fuse placement diagram is on back side of panel cover.Clean the fuse or replace it.Those connections are vital and you may have to put some type of extra metal or foil in with the blades of the fuse if the fuse is loose in the panel to tighten the connection also.May not be corroded, just a loose connection.

When i try to start it, it just clicks. it won't start up

Sounds like a dead battery. Have someone give you a boost to be reasonably sure. If the car starts, go directly to buy a new battery.

Good luck.

Does the negative battery cable go to the starter?plastice cover is torn and wire is exposed, seems to be corrided. van runs , but after maybe a day it won't start without a jump.

NO. The negative cable connects usually to the frame of the vehicle in order to ground it properly. If the cable is corroded it should be fairly easy to replace. Just buy a new negative cable and find out where the old one leads to, take out the bolt and bolt the new cable on in the same place and then connect to the battery.

How do you change a positve battery cable on a 1998 dodge avenger car?

First a little more clarification would be helpful in, Why do you think the cable needs replaced? If the cable is corroded at terminal connection a new connection fitting is much more simpler than cable replacement. Nonetheless, remove the negative battery cable first, then the positive. (1)Clean the corroded area's with baking soda and water mixture (you should wear eye and hand protection- battery acid will eat through clothing in a matter of minutes).Scrub gently with nylon brush -using a wire brush can cause sparks and may cause a fire from hydrogen gas escaping form battery. Flush with clean water and your ready to start the next process. (2)Assuming you will adding a new terminal connection fitting - cut off bad fitting with wire cutters or hack saw, skin back wire about ONE inch and install new cable fitting.(3) install / reconnect battery. (4) Your cars computer will be cleared of all learned shifting patterns and other feedback information. It will revert back to factory preprogrammed settings. Average cost of replacement cable clamp $3.50. New cable cost to starter +$30.00

Happy motoring.

Corroded battery cable?

To do a good job if you havent already done it is to tip hot water over the battery term and it will dry clean ,,if corroded term then replace it but you dont have to buy with a new lead ,,only a positive term only and then hot water over the battery lug when new term on then spray with Hair spray .
If battery cable dident corrod with other battery then your battery is either charging more than 13.5 volts and or battery post to battery is cracked
Wash and spray then check first

The positive battery terminal has corroded through the wiring harness on my girlfriend's 2004 subaru legacy. Can you advise the easiest way to replace this part. It looks like I have to cut the wire to...

Yes, go to subaru dealer and buy org part. It will come with end and new wire attached. You will have to attach to starter. Not the easiest way to fix, but the best way. You can just cut off end and replace with a new one from autoparts store. Get battery cleaner and spray on battery and rinse off to get all corrosion off or you will have same problem again quickly.
