If it hydraulic there will be a master cylinder ( similar looking to the brake M/Cyl and close to it). There will be a pipe from this unit down to the clutch slave cylinder. If it is cable there will be a cable from the clutch pedal to the bell housing. And if you have to ask these questions I would suggest that you get the services of an accredited clutch/brake specialist as it will be cheaper in the long run.

SOURCE: How do you adjust a clutch on a 1998 suzuki

A lot of fluid clutches cannot be adjusted. Any that can be adjusted is with slave cylinder The small round bar from the slave cylinder to the plate from the bell housing which holds the trust bearing. Check it you will easily see the adjuster on it if it has one. If your clutch is'nt badly worn and it cannot be adjusted then try bleeding the slave cylinder it may be air. If it is hard to put into gear and the car moves off when you lift your foot up 2 to 3 inches then it needs adjusting if not then the clutch is worn and adjustment won't help. Cheer's

SOURCE: I noticed there is threaded adjustment on the

Yes, if you need a little oomph out of the pedal, you can get a little more throw out of the adj rod, or you can get a little less, it doesn't take much to move a clutch. Depends on what the clutch is doing, chattering, slipping, grinding, not shifting. You know, that kind of stuff all gets different adj. Check it out.

Does a nissan primera 1993 have a hydraulic clutch or cable either ither how do I adjust it? Also its crunching very bad in 1st & reverse & just starting to crunch in 3rd help please

Its fairly easy to determine if your clutch is hydraulic or cable. Check in the engine compartment against the firewall on the drivers side, and see if there are one or two hydraulic reservoirs side by side. If there are two, the far left one is for the clutch, and you have a hydraulic clutch.
If you have a cable clutch, the cable should be clearly seen by the side of the brake hydraulic reservoir, a rather thick cable running from the firewall to the bell housing area.
There are two possibilities for adjusting - the adjusting nuts are either at the point where the outer part of the cable enters the firewall to connect to the clutch pedal, or where the inner cable connects to the release bearing fork.
To adjust, release the outer nut (there should be two, one is a locknut) and take up the slack by screwing the other nut inward.
Make sure you don't overtighten the cable, this could lead to your clutch slipping and you will need to replace the clutch plate sooner.
A hydraulic clutch is usually not adjustable, so if you have a problem there, take it to a service station.
Have fun.

Well I don't what type of clutch you have but I can tell you how to find out. Open your hood look on firewall drvrside, if you have two fluid containers you have hydrolic clutch. If you have one then you have cable/linkage type.

Clutchbitting close to the floor

Is this a hydraulic or cable operated clutch?

If hydraulic, then replace the clutch disk.

If cable, then try adjusting the cable to take away some slack. If already adjusted, then replace clutch disk.

Gears grind when shifting. want to know how to adjust the clutch

Some clutches are not adjustable, depends if it is hydraulicly operated or by cable.
the adjustment is usually down by the bell housing where the clutch lever is. It will have a cable attached to it with an adjustment or a little hydraulic cylinder, with or without an adjustment. Just adjust until the pedal has about one half to one inch of free play.

Clutch cable location

Hello siscabella, you may not have a clutch cable, most newer cars use a hydraulic clutch.
You should be able to call any parts store to confirm that your clutch is hydraulic.
Many prefer the old machanical clutch because you could adjust the cable to get more clutch, but, the hydraulic clutches are not designed so you can adjust it. If you have a weak clutch, you will most likely need a new clutch in the near future.
I hope that I've been helpful.

My clutch goes to the floor and I cant shift into gear. I checked the fluid and it is fine. does this mean I have to replace the clutch? where is the cable? How would I fix this myself?

The cable may need to be replaced or adjusted. Or if it is a hydraulic clutch check the master and slave cylinders for leaks or defects. If you have a cable clutch you will see the cable on the drivers side firewall and you can follow it down to the fork at the transmission.

Problem with 1993 nissan altima PLEASE HELP

It is a clutch problem. Do you know if you have a hydraulic clutch or a clutch cable? If you have a cable, it might need adjusted. If you have hydraulic you might have a bad slave cylinder or clutch master cylinder.

My clutch is slipping on my 1993 toyota truck. Are there adjustments I can make myself. I am fairly handy, but not a car repair expert.

Sorry, there are no adjustments on your vehicle., The clutch is activated via hydraulic pressure. The master and slave cylinders are "self-adjusting". If the clutch is slipping, you are going to need to pull the trans and replace the clutch assembly. Changing the hydraulics will not help a slipping clutch at all.
