Question about Daewoo Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

99 Daewoo Lanos driving along ok then seems to starve for fuel and die, then will not re start but when trying will splutter & backfire then it will start and run fine again for half hour and then

I was told perhaps water in fuel so I added half litre of metho to tank and topped up with good fuel and seemed to be all good till it goes again for no reason, will be driving along in top gear no worries when it seems to starve for fuel and die, again I'll be on the road for half hour trying to start and out of the blue it will kick over but just as quick fade away and then sometimes it stay going? "Would it be I need a new fuel pump?" And if so why does it seem to be ok for a while then stops again?

do you have a autozone or o'rielly's where you live, if so take the vehicle to the auto parts store and ask them to check for codes. at those two places it wont cost you anything to get it read.

Keeps backfiring & spluttering wen i drive it but seems to b ok wen i go for long drives, also engine just stops sometimes wen i driving

Engine backfiring and spluttering is usually related to engine valve timing and spark timing if the engine is low to medium mileage and has not been pulled apart it is most likely related to spark timing
The crank angle sensor loose or intermittently faulty can cause all the symptoms you have described another cause although unlikely these days could be either water & or too much methanol in the fuel
Have your crank angle sensor tested change to 98 {premium unleaded} lower grade fuels are false economy let me know how you get on with this

Daewoo Lanos 2000 splutters and cuts out , heavy on petrol

Ive got the same car, here is two problems ive found that made it run rough 1. The ignition leads are a bad design and the metal clip that plugs into the end of the plug is very tight and quite often people just reef on the lead or rubber insulation on end of lead causing the lead to break off the end of metal clip on the end of it. Ive done it twice myself till i worked out that you need to grip onto the rubber insulation (the big rubber bit on end of lead) about half way along it with multi grips or something similar so you are actually pulling on the metal bit just above the plug and gently wriggle it off. My sister has same car too and all the leads were broken like this it was still running but like ****,new set of leads fixed it. 2. I had run my lanos very low on fuel a fair few times and it started to splutter and stall and was under powered for about a week so i changed the fuel filter ($15 AUS) and good as new. Hope this helps>

Running problem in monsoon season in Daewoo Matiz.

Has the clutch been replaced recently? There is an earth wire under one of the bell housing bolts,if not refitted can cause all sorts of problems.

possible blocked fuel filter or fuel pump not supplying enough fuel (starving) check fuel pressure with pressure gauge
also blocked exhaust or cataletic convertor can cause same issue

2002 DAEWOO LANOS PROBLEM

hi andrecti
im dave

check to see if your timing belt is broken. there should be an access hole usually a rubber cap that you can remove to see it. if there is no access hole remove the screws of the timing belt cover and open it enough to see the belt without breaking the cover. If the belt looks ok be sure there is enough tension so that it is not skipping over the camshaft pulley.
check your ignition components for dampness or to see if they are faulty (spark plugs, wires and ignition module and coil packs).
