Ok does the vehicle overheat?if yes bad thermostat if no then your possible looking at a bad blend door actuator or there is air trapped in the cooling system .or sometimes the heater core will get plugged with sludge and corrosion.check your blend door actuator and make a proper evaluation of your cooling system heater core is a good start.

Does the engine temperature also take that long to get to operating temp (around 200 F)? If it does, your thermostat may be on its way out. Check your coolant level first.

I changed the thermostat in my 1999 Mercury Sable. I still have no heat and there is no air bubbles in the system. What else could be wrong with it??

you can try disconecting the return hose from the heater to see if you have water flow through the heater.

I have a 2002 Buick Century and my heater will blow air but only heats air occasionally.

If you know where the heater hoses are, lift the hood after car has warmed up I mean the engine running for at least five minutes, feel the heater hoses, if they are warm or hot and still no heat from the heater, you have an in line proiblem. if hoses remain cold, replace the thermostat with a winter thermostat.

No heat blows into cab, just cold air, told it can be the actuator for ac/heat blend door, but then I read that it could be the door itself.

yes both are true. but most likely the actuator quit working, Youll have to find it and watch the operation and make sure it has voltage telling it to open. Some times they will click and start to move but slip and not open. I worked on one that was behind the radio.

However first I would go out under the hood and feel both heater hoses that go into the firewall. Both should be hot. If one is hot and one not and when the heat is turned on it blows hot for a minute but turns cold then the heater core is plugged and all you have to do is disconnect both hoses and attach a hose to one and back flush water until it runs clear. about 5 minutes each direction.

Fords are famous for having plugged heater cores. And still famous but a little less so for bad actuators.

On my 2001 Windstar the blower works but no heat.

it is possible, but could be equally as possible to have a clogged heater core, faulty ducting actuator or vacuum leak.

First question: why was the heater core replaced. Was it leaking water inside the car? Or was it replaced due to no heat inside the car. If it was replaced due to no heat inside the car, the shop you had taken it to shouldn't have replaced the heater core until they conducted tests of why there was no heat even if the customer insists on replacing the heater core. The reason why I'm asking is there's a possibility of the head gasket was leaking causing the poor circulation of the water to the heater core. If so, you may have replaced the heater core for no reason and most likely cost you a bunch of money. I live by this rule in our shop: DON'T JUST THROW PARTS AT THE CAR! You 'll end up spending way more money than you needed to.

Ford taurus Wagon 2001 heater problem

Check your coolant level. If the antifreeze is low the water pump may not be able to pump enough of the coolant through your heater core. When the car runs faster it is able to pump more of the warm antifreeze to the heater core.
