My 2000 honda civic wont turn over and has no spark but the ignition coil and modual are both fine

Won't turn over? Do you mean the starter won't crank the engine over?

Or the engine cranks over and won't start, and you have tested for spark when cranking and have no spark? And then you have tested the coil and ignition module, and they tested out good? Am I on the right page here? If so, maybe the next thing to check would be the crank position sensor. The ecu (computer) signals the ignitor (ignition module) when to initiate spark after it digests the signals from the crank position sensor and the cam position sensor.

did you check the gas filter or fuel pump? That would be my first thing before all the other stuff you did. make sure it is getting fuel.

Locate the idler pulley to the left of the crankshaft pulley. The idler pulley bolts to the idler arm. The idler pulley is replaced with the arm because they are sold as one unit.

  • 2 Place a 3/8-inch ratchet driver into the square hole on the face of the idler pulley and pull up on the handle. This releases tension on the Sonoma's serpentine belt. Pull the belt off the idler pulley, lower and remove the ratchet handle.
  • 3 Remove the two bolts that secure the idler arm to the engine block using a socket and ratchet, and discard the old idler arm.
  • 4 Place the new idler arm against the engine block and secure it using the socket and ratchet.
  • 5 Put the ratchet driver into the square hole on the new idler pulley, pull up on the handle and place the serpentine belt over the pulley.
  • 6 Lower and remove the ratchet handle.

    Hi, if an engine cranks but refuses to start, it lacks ignition, fuel or compression. When the engine cranks normally but won't start, you need to check ignition, fuel and compression. Ignition is easy enough to check with a spark tester or by positioning a plug wire near a good ground. No spark? The most likely causes would be a failed ignition module, distributor pickup or crankshaft position (CKP) sensor.

    One bad spark plug can cause a lot of studering . wait till dark and put engine under load . Look for any sparks from cap plugs or wires. Check TPS (Throttle Position Censer ) with OHM meter make sure it operates smoothly

    What is the problem if the check engine light is on???

    The check engine light comes on to let you know a censer is out or receiving an improper reading. Its probably your oxygen censer. I would take it down and have a diagnostic done, to make sure. There are several censers that could have went out.

    I have a 2000 Lincoln Continental 4.6L V8 with 105,000 miles. When starting the engine there is a loud squealing noise coming from the center pulley on the engine. (crank shaft Pulley?) How hard is this to...

    It may be a idler pulley bearing starting to freeze up remove the belt and turn all pulleys,power steering pump, alternator, idler pulley , etc. to find out if there is excessive resistance offered if so this is the culprit, on the idler pulley check the raidial play in the bearing by trying to move it by holding it with your hand and try to wiggle it gently back and forth same with the other (pulleys) check for loosness or play in pulleys bearings if everything checks out ok the battery may be running low and upon startup the alternator is under alot of strain to compensate for the recent drain on the battery while it is stressed to turn the starter to start car, your car may be drawing power from the battery as the car sits causing this condition disconect the pos. terminal of the battery and run a positive voltmeter wire to battery terminal then run negative volt meter wire to the now removed positive battery terminal cable set the voltmeter to dc there should not be 12 volts present if so there is and open circuit present drawing down the battery as the car sits while off.

    Does the idler pulley run on the inside or outside of fan belt on a Toyota Landcruiser GX 4500 EFI 2000 model ?

    I'm not positive but usually all idler pulleys ride on the outside of the belt because most of the belts have ridges or notches on the inside portion of the belt and that would overwork the already overworked idler pulley. Like I say, I'm not 100% sure but that's usually the norm.

    How do I replace a camshaft position sensor on a 2000 ford escort?

    2.0 cam position senser is on top front of engine near coil pack probably not problem though most of time its a timing issue idler pulley or tensioner and belt.
