I have a 93 corrola dx with 1.8. it has no spark. i replaced the distributor an still no spark. what else could be.

I replaced plugs wires cap and rotor, none of these helped so i replace distributor with new one and that didnt help either.

Did you check the ignition fuse. the fuse will be either in the fuse box
in the engine compartment or the box inside the car.

Replace the coil. It is shorted out. I have changed quite a few coils for the exact same symptom.

ain t many more parts to electrical system left... i had same problem once n it was my ignition modulator.located under distributer.**** i can t remember,i think my car would not turn overfrom that.or only other thing could be a fuse.i 'd check every fuse too .hope this might help.

Hi, common thing with the mazda was the coil or the ignition amplifier going faulty, both of which are located within the distributor, the coil ususally gives the symptoms you describe, a weak spark. The coil is the most common failure aswell for your vehicle i would recommend a new one, also make sure distributor is spinning as it could just be a case of a broken timing belt.

I reccommend putting WD40 or CRC on the connections to stop them corroding over time. You also want to make sure the Distributor Cap gasket seals well to keep out water. last make sure you don't get the leads mixed up, best to replace them one at a time. cheers

Spark plug wiring from distributor cap to spark plugs on a 95 honda civic dx 1.5 liter 16 valve sohc


If you look at the distributor cap from the wires side carefully, you would find either a line mark on one of the outer side of four holes (where the spark plug wires are inserted) or the numbers printed on the top of distributor cap (1,3,4,2). Fix one end of the longest high tension plug wire into number 1 hole or the one marked with a line mark on the distributor cap and the other end on spark plug number 1 (the number 1 plug is toward the pulleys and the belts side, then No 2, No 3 and No 4). While standing in front of right wheel you will see the distributor cap in front of you. The rotor moves clock wise. After you fix the 1st cord, next comes number 3 plug wire. Insert one end of the cord into the next to 1 on the right hand side and press the other side of the cord on spark plug number 3. Next to 3 is the cord number 4 and the last one is number 2.

How to Replace a Distributor Cap in Toyota?


Its a plastic cap and and on its top the sparks wires get connected.A small plastic rotor spins inside the distributor cap, firing each spark plug as it rotates. If the distributor gets faulty there the engine may not perform well. in most cases it has been noticed that only replacing the cap does not helps but with cap the rotors also need to be replaced. The procedure is as follows:--- 1) First of all disconnect the negative battery terminal. 2) Then remove the spark-plug wires . Note:-- Before removing the spark plug wires please note down how and where the wires are connected,then only remove the connections. 3) Then on the distributor there will be a cap.remove that cap.the cap is connected by two pins.you will have to press the pins from each side to loosen the distributor cap.Then lift the distributor cap from the top. 4)Then remove the rotor From distributor The rotor is fitted with two screws.Remove the screws and loosen the rotor. 5) Then lift the rotor out from its shaft. 6) To install new rotor and cap.reverse the procedure. This will help.Thanks.

To avoid confusion, replace spark plug wires one at a time. --- Distributor REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Although the distributor can be removed from the engine no matter which cylinder is about to fire, it is a good idea to have number one cylinder at TDC before distributor removal. 1.5L, 1.8L, 2.4L SOHC Engines
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect and tag the spark plug wires from the distributor cap.
  3. Disconnect the distributor harness connector.

  4. Loosen the distributor retaining bolt and remove the distributor from the engine. To install:
  5. Rotate the engine until No. 1 cylinder is at TDC on its compression stroke. NOTE: Be careful not to turn it to the No. 4 cylinder TDC on its compression stroke by mistake.
  6. Align the distributor housing and gear mating marks.

  7. Install the distributor into the engine, while aligning the fine cut (groove or projection) on the distributor flange with the center of the distributor mounting stud.
  8. Install and tighten the distributor retaining bolt.
  9. Reconnect the distributor harness connector.

1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 The #1 spark plug is the front spark plug on the drivers side and the cylinder location in order from front to back on the drivers side is 1-3-5-7 and on the passenger side it is 2-4-6-8. The ignition rotor rotation is clockwise.

If your Distributor cap is not numbered then replace the new wires, or transfer the old ones to the new distributor cap one wire at a time. Identify the #1 spark plug wire and start from there.

93 JEEP REPLACED FUEL PUMP NOT GETTING POWER TO THE SPARK PLUGS DOESNT TURN OVER


It could be the distributor cap, that is, where the spark plugs are coming from.

Definitely do a test for spark at the plugs. Remove one of the plug wires from a plug and hold it near grounded metal. (If the plug end has a long insulated shroud, you may have to improvise to get ground close enough to the end of the wire.) Have someone crank the engine while you watch for spark. If you get an 1/8" or so of spark, that should be enough to fire.

If no spark, it can easily be the cap, look for damage to the cap. Check the distributor cap inside for signs of cracks or carbon arc tracks. Also, check to see that the little carbon contact for the center terminal is in place; without that you can have spark but it won't get to any plug wires!

sounds like you need an ignighter which controls spark and it can be found in the distributor under the cap it should have a plug (wire harness) on it.

93 jeep cherokee , iv got spark at the coil but not at the plug just replced cap, roter, wires, but still notheing got any ides ?


Coil may be producing low voltage (KVs) to where it makes enough energy to snap out of the coil tower but then supressed as it travels down the high tension leads finally to the plug. Incidentally spark plug leads should have about 10k ohms of resistance per foot.I good coil will jump spark at least a half inch if you pull the wire off the cap and produce this much air gap

1993 toyota corrola stalls.


I thing that the main problem turned out to be a bad ignition coil. On '93 Corollas, you can remove the ignition coil without removing the distributor. (You only need to remove the distributor cap and rotor.) you mention that u already replace couple of parts but i suggest to get the original part from Toyota spare part
