SOURCE: no heat,ch.thermostat, water is circulating, blower goin strong .

Check the 'heater control valve'. This valve opens when u turn on the heat switch on the dash, so the hot coolant will flow thru the heater core and provide heat. So although the coolant is circulating in the engine, the valve controlling the flow to the heater core is stuck closed, or not working.

SOURCE: Water pump on 2005 Chevy Equinox

Water pump is locate on the front center of the engine.

I will rate water pump change as a 7/10 in difficulty scale.

You should check for special tool(s) requirement from the library before you start.

It's a good time to change the drive belt at the same time.

50/50 coolant mix is fine.

If you haul heavy load or in cold climate then bump it up to 60/40 mix

DO NOT FORGET to find or draw the belt routing diagram before you undo the tension.

A 30 second sketch will save you a lot of time.

SOURCE: My 2001 ford Taurus heating temp gauge is not

Start the engine when cool, remove rad cap and start engine and let it run with the heater on. (not defrost) Top up coolant as needed in rad, and let it run until either the rad fan comes on and off 2 or 3 times, or you can see increased flow in rad from thermostat opening. It will obviously happen after it reaches operating temperature, so watch after gauge gets close to there. Wait until you see that flow 2 or 3 times or fan comes on and off before you put cap on, and fill return bottle to proper level as well. That should cure it, by getting air out of system, and coolant flowing through heater core.

1995 sentra heat problem.i done the head and replaced the water pump and redaitor cap and just had the head skimmed when i go on a hill its heating

Did you change the thermostat. It might be stuck halfway open. When you start to go up a hill, the engine heats up more, the thermostat needs to open more, to let more coolant by to the radiator.

No heat coming out and van overheating

It could be the thermostat or the water pump. Even if your heater core were plugged, the engine would not overheat from it, you would just have no heat. And if the thermostat were stuck closed, but the heater core was good, you would still get heat from heater while the engine was overheating. So it kind of points toward the water pump, unless neglect had allowed both the heater core to plug and the thermostat to stick closed. I mean neglect from not regularly changing the coolant every two years about.
Overheating can be as simple as a low coolant level, so you should check that, and check for leaks.
Before you go for the cost to replace the water pump, you should first have the system pressure tested, or have a compression test done to check the internal condition of the engine and to make sure you don't have a blown head gasket. Good luck.

No heat, over heating

Not all new thermostats are actually working thermostats. It may require a second one. However,if the fan does not work it will be hard to tell.Is there a fan belt running to it?The goop that was added to it could actually plug up the the rad coils or rods and make it extremely hard to cool itself. It needs to be flushed.

Have an 2003 Olds Alero 2.2L, overheating. Removed thermostat housing/feed pipe to check thermostat to find no thermostat present, however the heat has working, although it has took 5 or 6 minutes to warm...

I can't give you any specifics on how to change your water pump, but I can answer your questions about the thermostat. Yes, the heat will work withou a thermostat. And yes, a car will overheat without one, especially in the summer months. The purpose of a thermostat is to allow cooler water to flow into your block, but also to allow the water adequate time to be cooled in the radiator. Without the thermostat, water is continuously cycling through your coolant system, getting hotter and hotter. Often I see people with malfunctioning thermostats jsut remove them, sometimes on the side of the road, just to get where they're going.

My cars interior is not being heated.

If the motor over heats it may be the water pump. A motor will not run very far with a bad water pump or stuck thermostat. Most of the time a water pump won't quit pumping water they leak. If the motor won't get hot enough it is the thermostat.

No heat, lincoln town car, new heat control valve, new radiator, new water pump, new heater coil

It looks like you changed everything involving the hot water. When the engine is warm, you should be getting hot water going through the heater core. By holding each hose from the heater core you should feel heat from both hoses. I did not see a new thermostat listed.

You need to also have the ductwork under the dash moving correctly. If you find that the water lines from the heater core are both hot, then you need the (doors) or flaps in the ductwork to route the heat inside. I do not see that anything was looked at under the dash.

Cant figure out how to change the thermostat on my 2003 Olds Alero.

  1. (This is for a 2.2L engine) If equipped with an automatic transmission, remove the exhaust manifold.
  2. Drain the cooling system.
  3. Remove the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe bolts.
  4. Remove the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe.
  5. Remove the thermostat.
