I suspect you have either a weak alternator or battery or both. Generally the alternator runs your accessories and keeps the battery topped up. Sometimes the car consumes more than the alternator produces and the battery makes up for the excess demand. If your alternator isn't producing, the car is running on the battery. which it can do if you have enough power to start the car, but if you increase the demand the voltage can drop to the point that it is too low to power the ignition for the car.

SOURCE: starting fine, driving fine, but dies while going down the road

Next time disconnect the negative and not the positive if it ever happens again. This happened due to the PCM needing to be reset.

Chevy Trucks, Blazers, S10 pickup and the like will vapor lock ecspecially the 2000 models. Do not tighten the gas cap past 1 click. There is a tube that runs from the top of the tank down and this gets hot and collapses or burns in half. We just bought a reinforced rubber tube cut it to lengh and use it instead of part and it's worked grat for 2 years so far.

SOURCE: Vehicle dies while driving down the road.

could it be the A/C pump kicking in. might be boging down the motor or electrical circuit, not letting the injectors get enough power. This could happen if the bearings are going bad in th A/C pump or there is a short in it. Just an idea. sounds like you have done the main components.

CHECK AIR FILTER FOR RESTRICTION. A BAD SUPPLY PUMP. OUT OF FUEL. BLOCKED FUEL RETURN LINE. AIR LEAK IN SUCTION LINE. RESTRICTED FUEL FILTER. INOPERATIVE FAST IDLE. LOW IDLE SPEED AND DEFECTIVE INJECTION PUMP.THIS IS A LIST OF THINGS TO CHECK.

Possible fuel pump failure. Year/make/model? try banging on the bottom of the fuel tank with your fist. If the vehicle stays running, suspect a fuel pump

1998 expedition yesturday was low on fuel got gas drove with headlights on got 4 miles down road vehicle died thought was bad gas 3hrs later vehicle would run but abs light and brake light would flash

There is a problem in the electrics of the vehicle. First place to start is to check the alternator drive belt for condition and tension. Next place is the battery terminals and condition and tension . Third place is to have a load test done on the battery as it may have an internal short and drawing all the current from the alternator. In effect when you add power requirements ( park lights then brake lights then headlights) you are actually using more current than the alternator can supply to keep the engine system running.

My 2002 chevy venture battery died going down the road

If the car cranks, but isn't turning on it sounds like it isn't getting enough fuel, When you turn your key into the on position can you hear the fuel pump turn on.. You may need to have one person stick their ear next to the fuel door while you turn the key to the on position.

Sounds like you need a fuel pump. There is an access panel in the floor of the car to get to the pump.

Car dies going down the road

First thing i would check would be the fuel filter. Sometimes, when they first start to give problems, there is enough gas to keep them idling or driving around town, but when you get on the highway they starve for fuel.

The truck dies while I am driving

I read this in a blog and it worked for my truck. I cleaned the throttle body and the air filter. It seems to be starving for air when you are just at idle cause it would not die when I was going down the road. Only if I was pulling into park with the rpms really low. Just pull the intake off and clean the throttle body. You will see a bunch of gunk. Clean it until it turns silver again.

95 ecilpse. driving down the road and the car just dies. Then wont start for 5 to 30 mins.

have you checked the fuel filter most people will forget to get the filter changed and it will get plugged eventually and starve the engine of fuel.the 2 easiest things to start checking are fuel if lots of fuel check spark.
