Call your local dealership, or go buy a manual for the car at most auto parts stores.

SOURCE: how to reset fuel shut off switch in trunk of a 1997 lincoln ctnl

just press the button to reset it. Per your owner manual. Should only trip in an accident.

WHen you turn on the key, can you hear the fuel pump run for 5 seconds. The pump is in the fuel tank. listen there while someone turns the key on. report back.

SOURCE: 2000 nissan xterra won't start

is there spark and fuel pressure?.....disconnect one spark plug and put a spark tester to verify.,if there is spark, then remove the air intake hose from the throttle body and spray fuel into the throttle body,if the engine starts, then dies, you have a fuel delivery problem.if you have hit something, check the wiring to the fuel pump, which is in the fuel tank.if you have 200000km,chances are the fuel pump is no good.sometimes banging on the tank will get it to start up again.you can also disconnect the inlet to the fuel filter using what is called a line wrench .if fuel sprays out, there is pressure there.wear glasses, fuel is under quite a bit of pressure.

SOURCE: My car will not start is there a fuel reset switch

Yes there is. It should be in the trunk, but before you go crazy looking for it, listen for it to come on before you blame the switch. If you hear it come on when the key is turned, you have something else wrong, if you don't hear it, then you can go find it. Some are under the dash, I don't know your exact location, most are in the trunk. Check it out.

SOURCE: Car smells flooded and inertia

Try disconnecting your battery for 15 minutes and reconnect it to reset all your units. If it does not work, it may have electrical damage caused by water. You can also remove the harness (while battery is disconnected) of the inertia switch and leave it out in the sun for a day to evaperate any humidity. Reconnect it with the battery and give it a go. If it still pops out, the water damage is too extensive in the circuit board and will need to be replaced.

I hit a speed bump my car doesn't want to start what I do

You likely hit the speed bump hard enough to trip the INERTIAL CUTOFF SWITCH, which is designed to turn your fuel pump off in the event of a collision. Usually, the Inertial Cutoff Switch is located in the trunk near the hinge on the driver side. Check your Owner's Manual for its location, and simply hit the reset button.

Will not start

Check the inertia switch. It's supposed to cutoff fuel if you are in an accident but they can be flaky. I've seen them pop if you bump a parking curb or hit a bump in the road but not go off when a Mustang was rear-ended by a SUV at 40 mph. The switch is in the trunk, right behind the driver's side tail light. There should be an access hole through the carpeted cover that goes across the back of the trunk. If the red button on top of the switch is popped up, push it down until it clicks.

2007 ford fusion wont start solutions

The Inertia switch. Located either behind a front kick panel or in the trunk, this part has a reset button on it. If the right frequency is felt by door slamming or trunk closing, a Parking lot bump, etc. this part will disconnect the power to the fuel pump.

Truns over but want start

Check your Inertia switch which has a reset button. Either in trunk or behind front kickpanels. This is a safety switch which will disconnect fuel pump power if your car gets bumped. The right frequency of door slamming, trunk lid slamming can activate it.

94 Mercury sable does not start. had the battery and starter checked. Fuel pump is engaging, and just changed the fuel filter. Any ideas?

if fuel is being delivered, look for an ignition problem (module, relay, distributor). you need 3 things to fire up an engine 1 compression 2 fuel 3 spark

I am trying to find the fuel shutoff switch which was activated when I hit a hard bump.

no such thing on a corolla. is your not getting fuel pressure you either had something unplg because of the bump or the fuse blew if you have one, or the pump is bad. You need to check fuel pressure with a gauge . Low reading could indicate poor connection or a bad pump. Check for voltage and a ground at the pump. You should have a 3 second 12v signal if the pump is good if you just cycle the key but do not start the car. If the car starts the siganl should stay on at 12v.

Engine wont get gas

Have you checked the fuel pump kickoff switch located in the trunk? It may have been tripped, even if the car was just bumped. It is usually located in the back of the trunk by the taillights, or hidden between the rear quarter panel and trunk hinge.

Hit bad bump in road and car died

I think that year still had the inertia switch in it. If it is bumped hard enough it will shut the fuel pump off. This is in case of an accident. It does have to be manually reset. They are usually under the passenger side kick panel. The dealer should be able to tell you where it is at for sure.
