That particular part is called the window glass channel and you are correct, it does guide the window glass as the glass is rolled up or down.

Take off the brake assemble meaning remove the roater caliper clean any dirt off the control arm and axel mount take down the upper and lower ball joints then pry them down to allow the axel carrier to pivot down then there should be three bolts behind the bearing remove those and rent a barring puller from autozone then apply the puller to the barings and they should come out this May require a press installer or as in removing the barring you might have to use some wd-40 to spray on the back side of the barring and some hits with a sludge hammer to break it loose if the puller isn't allowed to force the barring out simply and to re assemble it is just the opposite also grease the axel shaft and make sure the surface is clean before installation and use anti seize on all screws and ect this shall help you out

Left rear window went down and won't go up

Posted this earlier...similar problem..

First do you hear it trying to work, is it like a "clack, clack, clack" sound? or you hear the motor running smoothly? You will need to remove the door panel and take a look behind the plastic water seal to see whats going on, it is either going to be the regulator ( part the motor is attached to...cable broke)/damaged or more likely the nylon bushings inside the motor itself, they run like 10 bucks on Amazon. If you take the motor out of the regulator assembly be careful not to let the cable system come apart/unwind( use nylon ties while motor is out to hold in place). The motor itself is straight forward open/replace worn/falling apart nylon bushings/relube/reassemble. The tricky part is not screwing up the regulator assembly...depends on your skills.

One window won't work

I guess it is the driver's side that does not work since this is the first to wear out because of use. Other windows may be faulty because of non use and the motor stuck up. The best thing that can be done is to inspect the assembly of the window. You need to open up the door panel of the window with an issue and see if tapping or moving the motor helps. If the motor runs with your help then electrical issues such as wiring may not be a factor. IT could be a weak motor or some of the linkages and gears are not meshing. Grease or refitting the parts may help. At times it could be the rubber around the door that makes it difficult for the entire assembly to move smoothly.

On a Cavalier 1991 driver side front window. Window will not stay on track. Window falls forward while lowering it. Something seem missing that should hold the window straight while raising and lowering...

The glass for your window sits on a metal bar on the window regulator assembly. The bar is raised by scissor like lifts run by a motor. If it falls forward the rear portion may have come off from the bar and the guides at the rear may have kept it from lower along with the side that is still attached. You will have to open the door panel to gain access to it. Inspect also the guide for dirt or it may need replacing, it could have caused the part of the window to come of.

just pry it out but start at the front of the assembly chances are your going to need a window motor it not strong enough to move the window up fast enough.

We accidently had the door shut on my friends 95 fork truck, and the keys were still in ignition. We had to break the ventglass window, how do we replace that? window

1st. Remove door trim panel by removing the screw retaining the armrest section of the trim panel to the door inner panel and remove armrest.
2nd. Remove the screw retaining inside door handle and remove the handle.
3rd. On vehicles with manual operated window cranks remove the screws retaining the crank, then remove the crank and washer. On vehicles with power windows, remove the power window switch panel by inserting a thin blade screwdriver between the bezel abd the trim panel, at either side of the bezel. Then carefully pry the bezel from the trim panel and the housing assembly will snap out. Remove the retaining screws from the bottom side of the connector and remove the switch assembly from the connector.
5th Remove door lock control knob on models rquiped with.
6th On models with power door locks, remove the switch housing assembly from the panel by inserting thin blade screwdriver into the spring tab slot located at the top and bottom of the switch housing. Apply pressure and the assembly will pop out. Disconnect the housing from the wirring assembly connector by separating the lock fingers.
7th. If equipped with power outside rear view mirror, remove the switch housing bezel by removing the two retaining bezel nuts and the bezel.
8th. Remove the screw retaining division bar to inner door panel.
9th.Remove the screws retaining vent window assembly to the leading edge of the door.
10th. Lower the door glass to the bottom of its travel.
11th. Pull the glass run out of the upper run retainer next to the vent window division bar. Pull the glass run out just far enough to allow the vent window assembly to be removed.
12th Tilt the vent window and the division bar assembly toward rear of the door. Carefully guide the assembly up and out of the door.
13th. Remove the two upper pivot-to-vent frame screws.
14th. Remove the retaining nut and tension spring from the vent vindow lower oivot.
15. Separate the vent glass retainer and the pivot stops from the vent frame and weatherstripping assembly.
16th. Installation is reverse of the removal procedure. The pivot tension spring should be adjusted so the vent will remain open at higway speeds. Be sure the front door window spacer is in place when installing the vent window and division bar assembly.

I know it is hard to picture it but this is best I can explain with out picture.

Toyota manual windows..very sticky..

The 'sticky' windows can be caused by:

1) Dead windows seals rubber that are no longer flexible and can break down to the point of being sticky rubber: replace the seals or as a temporary solution rub a bar of wet soap on the seals where the windows slide against.

2) Lack of lubrication in the windows winder mechanism: you will need to remove the doors handles & internal covering panel to get to the gears located in the doors cavity where the windows slide in.

First you have to find a special epoxy that is sold at auto paint specialty stores. It is an industrial resin epoxy made for side window installation. Second make sure you have a caulking gun because this epoxy is sold in tubes just like home caulk. Rubber gloves are essential because the epoxy will not come off, wash off it will only wear off after about a week. Next you must raise the window assembly using your up/down button. If it is a window that raises up and down of course. The reason I say this is because some vehicles have little triangle windows that are stationary. I will assume that this is a passenger window that goes up and down. Once you have raised the as-sy. you will see where the window glass is installed. You must carefully remove all bits of glass from this assembly and any glue from the factory. Take your time doing this because if you bend or stretch this piece in any way it will destroy the integrity of the assembly. After you have cleaned this out you will have to make several preparations for the next step. Once you start you cannot stop. Do a dry run - gently sliding in the glass into the glass seat. If it will not fit into the guides - sometimes you have to remove the fabric guides and under those you will see small screws that can be undone. Disassemble as little of this as possible to get the window in and on the tracks. Once you see what will be involved get ready to complete repair. Place a generous bead of the epoxy into the glass seat.
Have the window and assembly ready after this. Make sure you have figured out how to get the complete assembly in and the glass in the tracks during the dry run! Once everything is seated and the glass is in the epoxy finish all assembly and then roll the window all the way up into the guides. Make sure it is in correctly and goes up and down smoothly because once this epoxy dries you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REVERSE THE GLASS POSITION. After all is good and you are confident it is in right - roll it all the way up and then allow it to dry for a couple of days. This is exactly how it is done at the body shops. I know because I have done this Professionally. It really isn't that hard - it is just really detail oriented and takes patience on your part. Don't get in a hurry , do the dry run, double check your work and then let it dry. Voila! you just saved yourself a couple hundred bucks! P.S. do not get curious and roll the window down before the epoxy is set or you will have destroyed your work. Good Luck!!!

Vent window repair.

To replace the window seal, you first have to remove the vent window assembly from the door. After it is removed, the nut and spring on the bottom of the window has to be removed. Then remove the glass and frame from the vent assembly frame. Then gently remove the rubber off of the frame and install the new one after you replace the top vent bar seals. Reverse the window removal procedures to reinstall the glass and frame. The top vent bar seals requires a special tool to remove and replace the rivets you get with the replacement seal. You need to replace the top vent bar seal before reinstalling the new vent window rubber. When I replaced my top vent seals, it was fairly easy with my removal/installation tool.

usually automatic window motor has gears touched the raise bar, this metal bar with many gears, the motor is located at the bottom of the door. probably the motor didn't touch the gear bar.
