There is a bad connection . Could be a loose fuse. loose wire , faulty circuit breaker . or ignition switch. If the fault is still there start at the ignition switch hot wire should be 12 volts, turn on ignition should be 12 volts on + terminal of ignition coil and 12 volts at fuel pump. if not repair as required .

SOURCE: firing orde ford 6 cyl f-150 truck distributer to spark plugs

you didn't say if you have the straight 6 or v 6.But i'll give the order for both.
The 4.9L straight 6 is 1-5-3-6-2-4----------- distributor rotor turning clockwise, and #1 plug is the first plug.
On the 3.0 and 4.2 V6 engines is 1-4-2-5-3-6-------#1 plug is the first plug on driver side---- facing engine.

SOURCE: i have an 89 ford f-150 cranks wont start got

Hi,
Since you're sure that you are getting gas and fire and timing is right... (also check firing order), has anything been done recently that could help you locate the problem? Such as removed distributor (could be 180 degrees out)? New plug wires (maybe crossed)?
All else I could recommend is checking cylinder compression (In case the valves are the problem)... The engine timing chain could need replacing...
Hope this helps... Good luck!

What's missing ? Fuel ,spark , compression ? How many miles on the vehicle ? Does it have spark , pull a plug wire while cranking an hold it near a good ground . Put a fuel pressure gauge on the vehicle , is there fuel pressure ? Do a compression test , 150 psi . engine mechanical problem . timing chain .

You need to run a fault code test on the computer control module. To learn how go here. The code lists are there as well.

89 F-150 5.0 EFI I got spark, Got fuel, Turns over but Wont start...Any ideas?

if truck does not start it sounds like a bad crank sensor! have it scanned to be sure. a bad crank sensor as it controls timing more than likely engine will not start at all. engine back fire or irregular rpm function. no start and no pulse to injectors, car will stall when stopped. p0335 to p0342 are the sensor problem codes.

F150 won't start

So you turned the key just to "Run" and hear the fuel pump running (guessing elec pump)? Did you pull off a spark plug wire to check for spark? If no spark, pull the Distributor cap and check inside of cap, and rotor for damage, if ok, then the coil is bad, replace it. If you have spark at the plugs, have you tried Starting Fluid? (old school, go to AutoZone for this)

89 f150 to fireing

Check and see if u have spark to the plugs, if you don't replace the TFI ignition module on the distributor and the pickup inside the distributor, the dist must be removed to do this coil pickup replacement.
Comment posted on Mar 04, 2009 also check the fuel pressure if the spark is ok, the ignition is the ,most common issue. Comment posted on Mar 04, 2009 also check the fuel pressure if the spark is ok, the ignition is the ,most common issue.

89 f150 wont fire

i suspect a fuel pump malfunction. i would check there first. make sure the fuel **** fuse is good and well. check the lines for blockages. after you run the fuel pump/fuse/line test, go to the distributor/coil and test the spark value. i would also check wires as well. your problem should be in one of these specific areas.

89 f-150 turns over just wont start

If the only evidence of trying to start was when u used starter fluid, it's probably a fuel issue. After attempting to start several times, pull a plug and check for gas/wet plug. If there is no evidence of gas reaching the plug, it's probably the fuel pump. Change the fuel filter too.

One place to start,  Spark to ignition and power fuel are two different sources.  Unless they both work off the same fuse.  The fuel pump needs power to run the fuel pump, Ignition needs spark to fire the engine. Check your fuses because in my opinion it is odd that they both went out at same time.  Good Luck
