Loretta,, Occasionally, a spark plug is "bad" right out of the box. But a single new plug and install it in the #1 cylinder. Also, on a 15 year old vehicle, it is likely that the spark plug wire wa damaged removing it in order to replace the plug. Good Luck.

If you change the plugs and not the wires, you may as well not done it at all. Most ignition wires have carbon fibers that carry the voltage to the spark plug. From the outside the wire may look fine. As years pass the fibers get brittle and are easily broken from the inside. One false bend in the wire and you break carbon fibers inside..especially near the boot area of the wire. Replace the whole set, be certan to get the right kind for your vehicle. If it has a loom to hold the wires in place route them correctly

1996 Tahoe #2 cylinder plug firing but not getting fuel.

Sounds like the injector is clogged.I had a 1997 tahoe come in with the number 1 cylinder with the same problem and they just had all the injectors replaced 3 months before.I replaced the injector on that cylinder and problem fixed.

Need firing order spark plugs 98 chev express 1500

I am going by the '99-'06 Full size truck Chilton's Manual. The firing order should be the same. It is 1-6-5-4-3-2 on the v-6 engine. 1,3,5 are on the driver's side from grill to firewall and 2,4,6, are on the passenger's side from grill to firewall(this is in the heads). From the boot coming off the main coil(the only one not going to a spark plug) clockwise the firing order on the distributor is 5-1-3-2-4-6. Also make sure the plugs are gapped at .060 in. Hope this helps.

2004 Chev Tahoe: Cyliner #3 not firing. Changed spark plug and wire. Worked for a short while then stopped firing again. Help please!

The ignition coil may be what is killing the plug. Since yo have replaced plug and wire and it seemed to do good, the only other option is the coil for that cylinder is defective and causing the plug to foul. This engine if not mistaken has the COP coil over plug on each cylinder.

If you have a multimeter, check the resistance of the spark plug wires, especially the one going to the number 1 cylinder.  The resistance changes as the wires age.
