Sounds like a vacuum leak. You can find a leak by using an OPEN, UNLIT propane torch to trace the lines. When the rpms go higher than the pulsing they do at engine idle? you are close by the leak.

Be sure not to smoke or have any open flames when you do this test.

U need to check and clean Maf sensor ..air filter and last if still persists AIC unit (auto idle control valve) which is located on other end of air filter hose at engine area

I have a 2000 BMW 528, 140,000 miles. On cold mornings my car turns off when I try to warm it up. It starts without any problem. After approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute, the RPM gauge starts to go...

On a cold start, the engine struggles


probably a bad air/flow sensor, try to clean it with sensor cleaner, its by the air intake filter box. if not clean the throttle body really good.

Rover 75 v6 starts no problem runs 1000 rpm then


check idle speed sensor on your intake manifold around 700 to 750 rpm is normal ,air temp may efect idle speed .

Idles at 3000 rpm


Your problem seems to be the "Idle control unit" It controls the idle control valve. The box is sometimes green or black and is located in the glove box ceiling next to the ECU. It's approx 4" x 6"in size.

Mini one auto 2002 revs won't go above 4000 rpm


Hi    try this  switch on ignition without starting depress gas pedal fully and hold down for a second or    two then start the car and lift up your foot slowly when it fires. sometimes this will reset ECU    let me know if this works
