I have a 6 speed 00 celica gts. When I first bought it the transmission started acting up and I had only 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears, and reverse was hard to get out of. When driving one day I was in 1st and tried to go into third, and it wasn't there anymore but I was able to get it into 2nd, 4th and 6th. Neutral is now closer to me, almost as if the gear shift assembly has tipped toward me. Engine runs fine and once in gear, everything runs normally. Any ideas? gear layout: R 1 3 5

1st 3rd and 5th gears are spongy to shift into

Start with the firs post and have those cables and linkage assembly looked at if those are good then what you have is a loose bolt on the transmission that bolt is responsible to keep the gear in place when loose the transmission will do what you described as well nothing more nothing less.

2003 chevrolet cavalier, manual transmission lost 2nd, 4th and reverse but still has 1st, 3rd and 5th gears.

Sounds like one of the levers inside the transmission is either broken or otherwise disengaged. Remove the shifter to see if you can see any obvious reason.

We just bought 2002 daewood with a manual and most cars have a spring so you don't go into reverse. This one it's between second and third is this normal for these cars?

Hi:
Your 5 speed transmission should be spring loaded to naturally end up in line with 3rd and 4th gear. You should have to push the gear shift to the left to get it into 1st, and push to the right to get it into 5th, or Reverse !

Ford transmission wines in 1st 2nd 3rd revers, no

It is a 5 speed manual transmission? If it is noisey in all gears except for 4th, then the problem is countershaft bearings.

My ford focus tdi 2003 cant select 1st,3rd or 5th gears.

Car is in limp in mode unless you have the tools to work on automatic transmission you will need to take it to a transmission shop. Of course you can check oil level but I suspect you have other issues.

92 chevy s10 4x4 4.3L manual transmission no 3rd gear

Hi:

Your transmission has 3 shift rails...
1st - 2nd
3rd -4th
5th- Reverse

If your 3rd gear doesn't work , you have an internal transmission problem, such as a syncronizer, or similar fail... There is not much you can fix, without removeing the transmission.

2003 Toyota Celica GTs 6-speed transmission problem

Grinding going into third gear only may indicate a worn syncronizer ring. There are no adjustments on the shift cables, so I doubt highly that changing the cables will help you, since you are talking about 3rd gear only. Please note: This issue may be still under warranty, if your vehicle has less than 60,000 miles and is not 5 years old. Replacement of 6-speed internal parts is best left to a pro.
