Oil pump replacement

Depends on what vehicle you have. Most pumps can be changed by dropping the oil pan. It may require raising the engine somewhat for the pan to clear the sump. Some vehicles have the oil pump run off the crankshaft on the side of the engine as well and are easier to access and change

How do I reset the security system on my 2002 grand am gt. I tried changing the factory radio and now my security system doesn't work

You can try this re-learn procedure, if that doesn't work you will need to bypass the security system. I hope you bought the wire harness adapter for that vehicle. They need it.

Perform the re-learning procedure

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
  3. Observe the SECURITY light, after approximately 10 minutes the light will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 10 seconds.
  5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes
  6. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK.
  7. Start the engine (the vehicle has now learned the Sensor Data Code and/or password).

Sounds like it's bypassing the overdrive seals. This is the solenoid package. I would put some transmission additive in first, this reconditions the seals. TranX, Lucus are both good.

Oil pressure drops and check gages light comes on when engine is running at a low rpm or is idling. engine has sufficient amount of oil and recently had oil changed. what could be the cause?

Inside your engine is an oil pump assembly which is mechanically operated to pump oil your through your engine while the vehicle is running. There is a pick up tube which extends from the pump to your oil pan and a screen which helps to keep large debris from entering your oil passage ways and engine components. If that screen is blocked you will have low oil pressure, if the pumps diaphragm is worn out you will need to replace your oil pump and this would cause your pressure to drop as well. I would also suggest having your oil pressure sending unit tested to make sure it's functioning first before doing any internal engine work. Hope this helps you and best of luck

How to change a transmission filter on 2002 gt grand am

The transmission filter is in the transmission so your going to have to drop the transmission pan. The best thing your going to have to do is to bring it to a transmission shop or any GM dealer and have them service the transmission.
There is no dipstick on a 2002 Grand Am. You'll need to find a small plug on the passenger side of the transmission - look slightly behind the oil pan. Should need 11mm socket to take it out (it's obviously a plug - it doesn't look like it's holding anything together) If no fluid comes out, it's low. To add, you'll need to take off the airbox and find the red cap that either says 'trans fluid' or just has a picture of a gear.
What ever you do, do not do a transmission flush. It common for the transmission to fail shortly after the transmission flush has been performed.
If your going to attempt to service your transmission, you need to drop the transmission oil pan to remove and replace the transmission oil filter. Spray down the valve body with brake parts cleaner and then replace the oil filter that just slides back in place, make sure you remove the old O ring that holds the oil filter in place. Using the old O ring may result in the oil filter dropping from the valve body.
Once you have reinstalled everything, you can refill the transmission through the tube mentioned under the air box.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck.
