Question about Toyota Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

My 2009 toyota Isis keeps dying after 30 miles or so, and needs to be towed back to the dealer in Port Maria, Jamaica. He says the problem is the gas we have been using, insisting if we use 90 plus o

The dealer seems to believe if we only use 90 plus octane gas the problem will go away-we do not trust this used car dealer.

SOURCE: MPG 16-17, with 93 octane in my Hyundai XG 350 L-WHy?

Incomplete combustion due to ignition problems, poor compression, worn or broken EGR valve, sticking injectors, old O2 sensor, dirty air filter, and just about anything else that affects how well the engine would run. Start with a code scanner to find out if there are any stored fault codes.

SOURCE: High fuel consumption

Check the following things: air filter, wheel alignment, and timing belt, all of them if not serviced on time can affect your fuel consumption. I do not think its the heat because I drive my car in Phoenix AZ with temperatures comparable to Dubai and I still get 500+ km/tank.

Good Luck,

Coolant for a Toyota Camry 2009 Hybrid

There are some all makes all models coolants that may meet those requirements. You will need to take your time and read the labels to make sure thy do. Otherwise it is pretty easy to swing by the parts department at your local dealership and pick up a gallon. I'm pretty sure you gan get it premixed and you will find that it is fairly priced and you know it is correct for your vehicle. PS this is common with many new model vehicles. There are currently 8 or 9 different coolants offered by the vehicle manufacturers. It is almost impossible to keep them straight! Ps. Running your vehicle out of gas is not the dealers fault. They only sold you the vehicle, it's your responsibility to keep gas in it and give it the maintenance it requires!

2005 Dodge Neon - Intermintently for 7 months the car won't start. The engine tries to turn over but will not start unless I give it gas. Has been into dealer 4 times and they first did a tune up, then...

I say dont accept vehicle back form the dealer, till its right. Sounds as though the throttle position sensor orMAS is bad. The dealer really should be able to fix it.

2008 avalon limited that dies randomly esp. in reverse. Sometimes will restart, I had it towed this last time. help! dealer cannot replicate the problem as it happens randomly.

Best advice would be to leave this car with the dealer for a week or two for them to drive to see if they can replicate the problem. If the dealer is unable to fix the issue, you may have to file a complaint with Toyota. This is not a common complaint from Avalon owners that I'm aware of as of yet. Start keeping a detailed journal of when (dates and times) and EXACTLY what you are doing when this happens. With it dying randomly, I would say its a big safety issue... call the dealer for a tow every time it happens.

Tucson 2009 dies mid drive

The possible CAUSES of the problem you describe are NUMEROUS!.. You may have what the industry calls a 'LEMON.' There is a LEMON law in every state. Sinse it's a 2009 model, keep at them (dealership). Warranty procedures APPLY! You may not like it, but you are covered under WARRANTY!.. I'm sorry, but under the warranty agreements between Hyundai Motor America and the Dealerships, you are relegated to KEEP AT them. The most difficult problems/malfunctions to diagnose are those which DON'T STAY BROKEN! Tell you what, since you posted your problem here, you'll have to do some homework yourself (become a Hyundai Certified Technician).. then you'll see how DIFFICULT the diagnosis can be. Walk a mile in the technician's shoes! Sometimes the problem can simply be a resistive/poor ground
circuit, OR, could be potentially a multitude of different problems. Take/tow the vehicle into a Hyundai Service Center (dealership), Insist they find out what the problem is!... Then you'll have the option of having them buy it back under the "Lemon Law.'

Car Dies while driving and/or Wont even start after being driven

there is a chance that the battry is faulty but there is also a chance that the alternator is drawing voltage back out of the battry when its not charging, this would be because the diods that stop the voltage flowing back have broken down. to see if this is the problem charge the battry, refit, but put a bulb in line on the possitive teminal if its glowing bright the alternator is drawing back try disconecting the altenator and testing it again if the bulb stops glowing you know its the altenator, dont forget the interior light will make it glow too. its also worth checking the earth straps.
