Why would u want to do that? is the car not starting? Many cars that age would be better to just change the radio to one with a aux input and mp3 playback.

SOURCE: Theft-deterrent system problem

let it sit for about an hour, untouched to let it clear out of theft mode. If it doesn't start with a programmed key after that, you may have to take it into a shop and have it looked at. It may just be a bad transceiver but if any piece of the system has been replaced the keys have to be programmed with a dealership scan tool.

No. The theft deterrent module creates a signal that allows the starter to start. Without this signal the car will not start. There is a way to bypass the system and replicate that signal. Look at this link under "permanent fix". This is your best complete fix.

1998 oldsmobile intrigue and security light keeps coming on flashing and the car won't start. but now its not flashing and the car still wont start what do i do or what could be wrong?

The problem is in the key or ignition. Aside from the key working like a normal key, it also has a chip or transponder in it that is part of the security antitheft system. The key is then read by the ignition and must communicate the correct signal. If there are any break in communication, the system goes into anti theft and locks out the starter. Might be a key issue or an ignition issue. The fact that the light is flashing, indicates key or ignition. If it were solid, then the problem would be the Theft Deterrent Module (TDM) that is the main computer of the security system. You can either fix the problem part, take it to a dealer who is authorized to fix it, or bypass it entirely. This link explains the system and how you can fix it yourself.

Yes there is. There are two different ways to bypass the system on this site. One only bypasses the key and ignition. The other bypasses the entire SECURITY system all together. From the key all the way to the TDM (Theft Deterrent Module) computer.

Changed Radio and now car won't start

What stereo did you use as a replacement? If you used a aftermarket (kenwood, sony, etc) cd player, you need to use the proper adapter harness. These cars have a build in theft deterrent system that involves the stereo. So, when you replace the stereo, a component of your anti theft system is missing. The use of the harness gets around this feature somehow, and allows you to use aftermarket CD players. Also, ensure that no wires are getting pinched behind the stereo, and that all your connections are soldered and shrink wrapped to avoid any future problems. I have provided a link for the correct adapter harness to your vehicle.
