You have to impregnate a dragon, not the easiest thing to do.

You should service way more often than you have been if your car has over one hundred thousand km you should probably have it done every 15 thousand km and change oil 5000 km if you love your car that is lol

Car always needs a jump start, battery good,2003 tracker, even with every day warm ups

You need to have a load test done on that battery Esther. The only other thing would be if your tracker would have a 12 volt drain.

Timing belt broke while idling

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. There is a chance that you have engine damage. When they break, sometimes it causes damage and sometimes it does not. But, no matter what, it needs changed. This is no easy job. I don't know the specifics but there are many things that must come off. You will have to take off your serpentine belt and probably some of the components. The timing belt runs along the outer edge of the engine. Some vehicles require a special tool to take off the timing belt, which many our Chrysler. As for total cost, the belt is not much. It is the labor that is the problem. You could be looking at a few hundred to nearly a thousand to have it done.

2001 3 door sports Auto Grand Vitara excessive fuel useage 150000klms good cond

Hi.....Daz...... what do you call excessive? Two things........ firstly you must make sure your vehicle is in optimum running condition, so you need to check and renew if required, things like air and fuel filters, plugs, check spark plug hi tension leads, coils and wiring harnesses, timing, injectors , engine management systems....... checking also for fuel leaks around pipes and unions and the tank. If all ok, then you must carry out a controlled fuel consumption check. fill your tank brimm full......note the mileage and drive the vehicle normally, do not make an effort to drive economicly, drive as you would daily for a couple hundred kms, return to tha same garage and same pump, brim the tank and note the mileage and litres filled and do a calculation of how many kms per litre... I think you might be surprised........... bear in mind that the vehicle has done in excess of 150000 k and as the engine gets older will loose some fuel efficciency..... its called wear and tear..... hope this helps.... Does one have to change the timing belt of a Hyundai tuscon 2006 model. I

Scheduled Maintenance Services, for most Cars, has to be done at 30K, 60K, and 90K. Hyundai dealer recommend to replace the timing belt at 60K Service.
If you wait, one of two things could happen: Nothing, or the belt could break and you would be out thousands to repair the engine instead of a $400 hundred to replace just the belt. If it breaks, there will be damage done to the valves and various other internal components, which will not covered under warranty. The problem is that the Dealer would charge you between $700-$800 because they would also replace the water pump at the same time. Or you can buy the timing belt and change it by your self. To do so, you nee the Haynes Repair Manual specific for your car another equivalent.

What is good miles for a 1990 NISSAN MAXIMA ???????

Depends on how well the car was maintained. Cars can last for year and thousands of miles, but here is no magic number. I have 280,000 on my truck, but it has had a transmission replaced and lots work done to it. Engines these days have tighter tolerances and tend to last longer (as long as the timing belt does not break) than they did years ago, but other components may fail long before the engine does. If you are looking at a used card, have a good mechanic inspect it first...$50 to $100 up front is better than hundreds more down the line.

2003 Toyota 4 runner

Hi robrtsn,
As you forgot to say what the engine is in your 4-Runner....I'll give you the rule of thumb....if you have a timing chain in your engine, you'll need to check it only if it becomes noisy....If you have a timing belt, the manufactures recommend that it's replaced every one hundred thousand kilometers.....thats about sixty five thousand miles.... I believe that the later vehicles...(those with the electronic odometer fitted) have been extended to one hundred and fifty thousand, but to be on the safe side, I'd replace at one hundred thousand, especially with the number of sub standard parts that are available on the market these days....

Hope that's a help

Best regards Johngee10
