Sounds like a pinched wire leading from the drivers master switch in the door panel to the flexible tube containing wires in the door jamb, leading to a short in the wiring. Try squeezing the tube, and allowing the wires room to move.

SOURCE: Drivers door power window control stopped

Since it is only happening on the drivers side door to multiple switches and lights on that door only, I think the problem is the wiring harness as it enters the drivers door by the door hinges.

Unfortunately the actuators are bad. You could try removing the door panels and disconnect one actuator at a time and possibly only have a couple bad but it is common to have more than on go bad. I hope this helps. Good luck.

You will have to open it from the inside-Yes, I have done it and it takes about 15 min. or so.-I have also posted about 40 images, after I opened the door-In an effort to contribute a little to all the lost souls with the Curse of the F150 3rd Door issue. Hope this helps-BTW I just did this on 12/04/2011-found my particular issue-I will need a new cable, so I'll have to go to the dealer tomorrow and buy one. Also included images of the tools needed-Good Luck!

I just bought my 16 year old daughter a 1999 for explorer Eddie Bauer edition. The windows quit working, unless the driver door is open. Every once In a while when she puts up the driver window whil

first check the wires that run between the body of the car and the door.there should be a flexable boot covering the wires for protection from the enviroment and so it looks good when opening the door to someone looking at the area.its a common problem in this area that the wires break from opening and closing the door.if the damage is here repair the wires.if not then the next thing is to check the drivers door switch as the other switches power off of this.

I'm sorry to say but, these doors are very very complex and unless you have worked on several of them before, I must suggest bring it to a dealership. Believe me when I say this, I am a mechanical engineer and have come close to pulling my hair out while working on auto or manual sliding doors. Sorry, Thanks, Dana.

Windows won't go up or down and interior lights stay on

You have two separate (and unrelated) electrical issues.
(1) windows - probably the fuse is blown - replace. If it keeps blowing fuses, then you have a
short somewhere in the wiring to the window operator motors or the switch to raise/lower
the windows (any soda/latte been spilled on one of the switches lately?, or perhaps a window
left open overnight in a rainstorm?).

(2) interior light staying on - almost always a stuck/corroded/worn door switch - play with all
four & you'll find which one has gone marginal (97% of the time its drivers door switch,
since the driver's door gets more usage than all the other doors put together).

Power windows won t work

MY POWER WINDOWS WOULD WORK AND THEN NOT WORK, IT SEEMED TO BE WHEN I WOULD SHUT THE DOOOR THEN THEY WOULD WORK, THEN CLOSE THE DOOR AGAIN AND THEN THEY WOULD QUIT AGAIN. THEY ALL STOPPED WORKING AT THE SAME TIME, IT SEEMS TO HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. NOW THEY WON'T WORK AT ALL.
