Well, if nothing was disconnected on the ducts and the selector works fine , my guess will be that you have a nest in the fan it self, take it out and clean the nest so the fan can blow full amount of air. good luck.

SOURCE: Location of blower motor switch resistor on 2004 Grand Marquis

The blower speed controller is located under the hood on the right or passenger side on the heater housing just to the side of the heater hoses near the very back of the right cylinder head.
Yes that would cause the concern you are having.

it is most likley to be the heater core, try to flush and fill with new anti freeze solution, if you replace thermostrat use lowest rating to open heater faster.

The blend door is stuck in cold position. That usually happens because the blend door actuator has failed.

You will need to test and replace the blend door actuator.

To replace the actuator you will need to take apart the dash and remove completely the instrument panel,d isconnect the connector, remove the four screws, remove the temperature blend door actuator and replace it.

The replacement is not a job for beginners, since you have to take apart the dash to access the actuator.

Regards.

A/c fan only on high, fan goes from dash vents to floor od deforst

replace the a/c blower motor resister. If it fails again, you will have to replace blower motor.

For the air blowing out defrost (failure mode), you probably have the vacuum harness on the back of the control head not fitting tightly, causing a vacuum leak. Use tie straps to hold it tight.

I have a picture but it's 2.3 mb. Can't post here.

email address is needed to send to you.

The blower motor stays on high all the time. A/C works but will not come out dash vents, comes out defrost and changes to floor when I accelerate. Thanks for your help. Cecil

Your problem with the blower motor only running on high is caused by a defective blower motor resistor pack. Replace the resistor pack. The problem with the vents is not related to the blower motor, and is caused by a problem with the vent controls. I suspect you have a vacuum leak under the dash.

Have you checked the fuse under the dash. You can run power directly from the battery as you did to test the blower just make sure you use a high amp rated switch and make sure you install an inline fuse rated no more than ten amps if you use say 14 guage wire. Let me know how it goes good luck.
