Maybe your system voltage while cranking is dropping below a certain threshold that your ignition system requires to both spin the starter motor and run other critical system components. Assuming this is the diesel model, you may benefit from measuring voltage while cranking or attempt a jump start (get reserve power from another vehicle that has the same system voltage as yours). The fact that a bump start works, and normal start will not leads to this advice. Good luck.

Testimonial: "THANKS BUT BEEN THERE AND TRIED THAT APPROACH, BATTERY AND CRANKING VOLTAGE BEEN TESTED AND BOTH ARE GOOD, BOOSTING FROM JUMP PACK OR FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE DOES NOT WORK EITHER, BUT IF YOU TOW IT AS SOON AS YOU LET THE CLUTCH UP IT IS RUNNING.HOT OR COLD ENGINE MAKES NO DIFFERENCE.WILL NOT START FROM KEY EVEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER A 20 MILE TRIP. hOWEVER THE CAR RUNS LIKE A DREAM!!!!"

When your keyswitch is all the way to the start position, certain contacts must be made for the RUN condition and the START condition. once the vehicle starts, the key is returned by spring to the RUN position . Maybe when the key is to the 3rd position START, the contacts that are required for RUN are not made, but when the switch is actually in the RUN position, they are made. You can test this theory by placing your keyswitch to RUN, jump off your starter motor with jumper cable. all you need is one lead from + Batt to the starter. The starter case is grounded so you need only the positive lead. you can either do this, or pop off the starter relay cover and manually "slug" the relay it will spin the starter motor.

SOURCE: 96 grand am won't start!

I just went thru a similar problem. When I changed my fuel filter the problem stopped. I can't say that it is the exact solution for your problem. But it is a cheap fix if it is. You can remove the old one and tell before you buy a new one. The filter is located in fron of the gas tank. It comes off easily. If its clogged then replace it. ( I recommend replacing it evey year anyways). There are a few other possible problems that it could be. I hope this helps

It is Not any of the above as it reads it cranks but no start. I would edge my bets on immobiliser relay is more like your problem as it clicks when key is removed. People please read the question in full and think about it before you leave your wrong answers

2011 hyundai sonata won't start. battery seems fine. loud clicking/knocking when i turn the key. would it be the starter?

Unusual for the starter to fail on a one year old car.
You are having it towed to a dealer for warranty repairs, right ?

Car won't start

If it just clicks then either you have a poor battery cable connection between the battery to the starter clean battery posts and there is a good connection. After you know your connection are good then it has to be the starter solenoid that is bad.

Engine cranks fine, good battery but just won't

check fuel pressure, try cycling the key to the on position an couple of times not the start position to cycle the fuel pump then try to start it. could be the cold start circuit. once its warm does it start easy ?
