SOURCE: Power steering pump still leaks after putting new one in.

the bubbles are just air in the system, it will eventualy go away. are you sure the leak is from the pump or is it just comming out the cap because of the air. also did you chk. the pressure line? that maybe where your leak is. unless you got a crack in the resavor, its most likely the pressure line. there is a pressure line and a return line.

My 2000 Pontiac Grand AM, Is hard to steer after it has sat for a while and when you make a sharp turn. It is like it breaks loose and steers just fine after that

Hi,
it would seem to be that the power assist steering is not given assistance untill the relative steering wheel action is quite advanced. The valve actuators in the rack / box will have to be checked, if the lower column is checked and found to be functioning correctly.

Simple check, put a chalk mark on the top and bottom of the steering column adjacent to the safety joint. Have an assistant turn the steering wheel from full lock to full lock and opserve the chalk marks. if they move out of alignment with each other, the upper and lower steering column is not functioning correctly.

When performing this task, observe all applicable safety precautions to avoid injury.

If the marks remain in alignment, the problem is within the rack / box, and appropriate action will have to be taken.

Good luck.

My sons 2000 Grand am power steering does not seem to be working at lower speeds. Any suggestions?

Most likely low on power steering fluid. Check fluid level. If at proper level, pump may be going.

Power steering leak

It's a bit difficult to remove the high pressure line. There isn't much room to get to where the line attaches to the rack and pinion. Just not much room to work on the newer cars.

If the car stalled while driving you would of lost power steering and the brakes would only have two or three pumps before it felt reaaly hard. Even if the idle fell low enough you may of experienced these symptoms

My steering wheel won't move in my 2000 pontiac grand am gt...I can still put the car in drive, reverse, etc. But the steering wheel is not moving at all.

it may be your steering lock try and move the steering left and right whilst turning the ignition or an old car thief trick is just keep pull down to one side on the wheel until the steering lock snaps or shears and it should be free to turn after that good luck
