Question about 2004 Citroen Xsara Picasso

Hi I have a 2004 petrol Citroen picasso , recently i have just changed the coil pack because it had broke down and also the eml light came on idicating that the camshaft sensor was goosed , so I

Put new coil pack because old one broke down and replaced camshaft sensor as diagnostics indicated that was goosed also , hope you can help , thanks Paul

    Hi Paul, welcome to the strange world of French car electrics. I've seen the comment on what you have done, it all makes sense and as you say its running sweetly. I can't offer any solution to the code other than, press on and ignore it.

Hi paul have you repluged in the diagnostic tool to rest the faults again ,as the fault will still be showing up ,till you clear it

    i need a solution to a fault code p0341 that keeps coming on even after i reset it on my 54 plate petrol 1.6 citroen xsara picasso , i plugged my obd2 reader in , its says its the camshaft sensor , so i replaced it with a new one from dealer , and i reset fault , and its still on now , but the car is still running sweet as , am totaly baffled ?

SOURCE: Citroen Berlingo 1.9d. 2002. Fitted with DELPHI injector pump. Timing of cam belt & flywheel is by locking

I have been doing research on the Delphi pump and it apparently is associated with lucas/cav and as such is timed by the use of a dial test indicator that, through the use of a plunger and cam, runs on the cam block in the pump and determines when injection begins. Initial timing is to set the flywheel on the injection timing mark and the pump flange mark set on the timing case mark. To get it exact I would recommend that you have a diesel pump shop do the timing using the correct tools. As the pump is not electronic as such (from my research into Delphi ) it is basically a manual injector with a electronic controlled governor. Any way the best advice is to have a pump expert set the timing.

jack the front up and spin the wheel ,lay you pound to a penny the front tyre is deformed ,i blame the garage that checked the tracking and balancing for not checking the tyre first ,but as they only pay peanuts then no doubt it was only a semi skilled grease monkey you got to it for you ,change the wheels front for the rear and then it will be ok

When the service engine soon light (Also called the check engine light or engine management light) is turned on this is to alert you to the fact that Powertrain Control Module (computer) has detected a failure somewhere in the systems it controls you may not feel any difference in the way the engine runs, this can be the transmission or the engine or emission system, there are fault codes set in the modules memory for these faults. What needs to happen now is to have the powertrain control module scanned with a special tool called an OBD2 electronic engine control scanner or a OBD2 code reader. Once the code(s) are read then you must perform the diagnostics for each code and make the appropriate repairs based on the findings of the diagnosis that was performed, this is called doing "Pinpoint" testing.

The engine and transmission in this cars drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPEDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

Citoen xsara keeps cutting out


Have the fuel filter changed most likely cure.
If not it could be numerous problems from fuel pumps to injectors, coil packs,spark plugs air filters etc
Try the fuel filter first if it isn't cured get a diagnostic check done by a garage.
Note petrol and diesel can have different causes also the fuel filter on a diesel is not a diy job.

My wife bought a 2005 citroen xsara picasso second hand. The engine light keeps lighting up. The dealer's macanic said it was one of the coil pacs that were faulty. As this was only an intermediate problem...


My Picasso has just developed the same problem today - to me it feels like a problem with fuel delivery, so she's going to the doctor tomorrow and I'll let you know what the diagnosis is.
