P2118 Toyota Description
The Electronic Throttle Control System (ETCS) has a dedicated power supply circuit. The voltage (+BM) is monitored and when the voltage is low (less than 4 V), the Engine Control Module (ECM) concludes that the ETCS has a fault and current to the throttle actuator is cut. When the voltage becomes unstable, the ETCS itself becomes unstable. For this reason, when the voltage is low, the current to the actuator is cut. If repairs are made and the system has returned to normal, turn the ignition switch OFF. The ECM then allows current to flow to the actuator and actuator can be restarted.

Possible causes
- Faulty Throttle Actuator Control Actuator
- Electronic Throttle Control System (ETCS) harness is open or shorted
- Electronic Throttle Control System (ETCS) circuit poor electrical connection

2004 GMC Envoy SLT 4.2L the engine will crank but want start why?

P1516 = Throttle Actuator Position Performance
P2101 = Throttle Actuator "A" Control Motor Circuit Range/Performance

Both of these codes indicate a problem with your throttle position actuator system. I'm not sure how GMC/Chevy treat this, it's possible that if the PCM/ECM will not allow the engine to start if the throttle actuator is not working properly (it may cause the engine to accelerate rapidly when running). You could try replacing the throttle actuator, but that may not solve the problem if it's a wiring issue. Best to have it checked out by a qualified mechanic.

Reduced engine power message

You don't say what make an model vehicle ! But with most vehicle makes it has to do with the Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) System , electronic throttle control ! are you having reduced engine power ? There are probably DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the PCM - engine computer .
The throttle actuator control (TAC) system is used to improve emissions, fuel economy, and driveability. The TAC system eliminates the mechanical link between the accelerator pedal and the throttle plate. The TAC system eliminates the need for a cruise control module and idle air control motor. The following is a list of TAC system components:
?€¢
The accelerator pedal assembly includes the following components:

-
The accelerator pedal

-
The accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor 1

-
The APP sensor 2

?€¢
The throttle body assembly includes the following components:

-
The throttle position (TP) sensor 1

-
The TP sensor 2

-
The throttle actuator motor

-
The throttle plate

?€¢
The engine control module (ECM)

The ECM monitors the driver demand for acceleration with 2 APP sensors. The APP sensor 1 signal voltage range is from about 0.98-4.16 volts as the accelerator pedal is moved from the rest pedal position to the full pedal travel position. The APP sensor 2 range is from about 0.49-2.08 volts as the accelerator pedal is moved from the rest pedal position to the full pedal travel position. The ECM processes this information along with other sensor inputs to command the throttle plate to a certain position.
The throttle plate is controlled with a direct current motor called a throttle actuator control motor. The ECM can move this motor in the forward or reverse direction by controlling battery voltage and/or ground to 2 internal drivers. The throttle plate is held at a 7 percent rest position using a constant force return spring. This spring holds the throttle plate to the rest position when there is no current flowing to the actuator motor.
The ECM monitors the throttle plate angle with 2 TP sensors. The TP sensor 1 signal voltage range is from about 0.5-4.25 volts as the throttle plate is moved from 0 percent to wide open throttle (WOT). The TP sensor 2 voltage range is from about 4.45-0.7 volts as the throttle plate is moved from 0 percent to WOT.
The ECM performs diagnostics that monitor the voltage levels of both APP sensors, both TP sensors, and the throttle actuator control motor circuit. It also monitors the spring return rate of both return springs that are housed internal to the throttle body assembly. These diagnostics are performed at different times based on whether the engine is running, not running, or whether the ECM is currently in a throttle body relearn procedure.
Every ignition cycle, the ECM performs a quick throttle return spring test to make sure the throttle plate can return to the 7 percent rest position from the 0 percent position. This is to ensure that the throttle plate can be brought to the rest position in case of an actuator motor circuit failure. Observe, under cold conditions, the ECM commands the throttle plate to 7 percent with the ignition ON and the engine OFF to release any ice that may have formed on the throttle plate.

It will not accelerate. I push on the gas and it won't go. I changed the oil a week ago and about a year ago i changed the fuel pump

Well an oil change is probably not the cause.
What IS it doing? You're telling me what it isn't doing...
Does the motor rev up?

How do I solve for My Hyundai sonata model 2009 code P2110 , P2118 in scaning. I changed throttle body and TP sensor. after change of these even I am getting problem in accelerator not increases above

P2110...Faulty Throttle Actuator Control Module
- Throttle Actuator Control Module harness is open or shorted
- Throttle Actuator Control Module circuit poor electrical connection

P2118 - Electronic Throttle Control(ETC) system is made of the components throttle body, Throttle Position Sensor(TPS)1&2 and Accelerator Position Sensor(APS) 1&2. The throttle body contains the actuator, the throttle plate and the throttle position sensor (potentiometer), which are integrated in one housing. The actuator consists of a DC motor with a two-stage gear. The opening angle of the throttle valve is detected by the throttle position sensor which is mounted on the throttle body. And it provides feedback to the ECM to control the throttle motor in order to control the throttle valve opening angle properly in response to the driving condition.

Hello, I have a 05 toyota camry that wont go more than 5 miles an hour. is giving me code p2118, I replaced the ETCS fuse, but still doing the same, is there anything else

P2118 Throttle Actuator Control Motor Current. Range performance problem. P2118 sets when the power supply voltage to the throttle actuator motor is out of range. The throttle actuator motor has its own regulated power supply in the PCM. If the supply voltage is less than 4 volts, the system shuts down, the code will set and the MIL will illuminate. The normal operating range for the power supply is 9 to 14 volts. To solve the problem you are having, I set up a pdf with all the instructions including the diagrams to fix your problem. Click on this link and it will lead you to the pdf. http://highlanderclub.ru/files/manual/04/21j6674h/cip2118.pdf

What is a throttle actuator

A throttle actuator is a motor, also known as stepper motor, that does the job that the accelerator did in the old cars. It essentially replaces the accelerator pedal as the attachment in the throttle linkage. So when you step on the gas this tells the engine computer to tell the throttle actuator to let more feul in. The main reason it is there is for traction control. When you start to slip tires the throttle actuator cancel out the fuel even if your still pushing on the gas.

Troubleshooting p2107

P2107 Throttle Actuator Control Motor Processor

I won't go into a lot of explaination or theory here

The code refers to the Motor, on the Throttle Body,
that opens the throttle plate, based on a 3 switch
Pedal Actuator (Gas Pedal)

You do not want to go to a dealer,
as they will repalce the entire throttle body,
good or bad,for $1000.00

What you do, is spray the throttle plate with
CRC Throttle Body cleaner

Then if you want, you can test or just change the
TPS Sensor, on the throttle body, yourself.
Instructions are in the box. Use a hair dryer,
to loosen the 2-- torx T20 screws

It is avail at the auto parts store,I think I paid $78.00
for my 2004 V8
