Question about Geo Cars & Trucks
Car will turn over but will not start.
First things first. (its really just a Corolla. so.... no magic)
1: all fuses good (tested not gandered)
2: CEL lamp glow key on, if not EFI is dead. or lamp bad.
3: does it run for 3second on test fuel. yes, then its fuel,no spark
or compression gone.
This is a non interference engine. so if cam timing is lost , no boom.
4: ever do a full tune up this decade? and the filters are in the list.
the 60k mile list? ever do that?
which engine?, (spark is first got spark x4)
compression good. x4? if not cam belt slipped. (ignored it)?
if the belt slips compression x4 is like 80 PSI ,not over 150.
so.... bam it will not run.... like most toys that dont run and never
get belt serviced.
7AFE, 1.8L DOHC EFI, injected. 7A is a stroked out 4A +narrow valve angles . 93-97 , 7th gen Corolla's and 2nd gen. Prizm's.
or the 1.6L>/???????
compression over 150 x4 wide open throttle.
spark good. and timed right. if found way off, the belt slipped
ok now we are at fuel.
got fuel pressure at the RAIL> no , then filter clogged.
or bad fuel pump (I use a real fuel pressure guage, over 28psi)
watch scotty do it magic.
see him try test fueL?

CHECK FUSES TO MAKE SURE FUEL PUMP FUSE IS NOT BLOWN. MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE GETTING GAS FROM THE TANK BY CHECKING THE FUEL LINE AFTER THE FUEL FILTER. SOMETIME THE FUEL FILTER CAN BE CLOGGED UP.

you'll have to pull off the interior panel. window in the up position. on the lock cylinder there is a clip that you have to pull off and an arm that actuates the lock. pop the lock out. reverse to install.

Place the car on jacks. Remove the seal using a screw driver and a rubber mallet. Remove the carter pen, then the bolt. Remove the bearing. Clean out the eitire wheel area with a good cleaner. REpack the bearing unless it comes pre packed with wheel bearing grease.

starters are actually pretty easy. usually just 2 or 3 bolts holding it on. Just disconnect the battery first. Remove the bolts and the starter and then installation is reversal of removal.
Hope this helps,

Heater controll valve.Look for your heater hose and follow them from the motor.By the look of the part it is cable controled, and has a mounting bracket. It also has two hose nipples that connect at 90 Deg angle.May have a broken cable, but you can slip the round end of the cable off and run it by hand.It may not stay open but a wire tie or piece of string will be a temp fix.
