Remove the door trim, then you will see an arm linkage try grease it. or fit a washer under the bolt holding it on.

SOURCE: The door ajar light has been on for a week, all doors are secure, how do I correct this myself. Moosebunny

alot of work... take all 4 door panels off, on each door latch there is a connector attached to a switch. with all doors shut, start unhooking the switches. the one that turns the light out is the bad switch- you can either replace the switch or just leave the connector un plugged.

Spray wd40 on the door latches. Happened to me a few months ago. The latch gets stuck and cannot reach the necessary position to turn off lights and door ajar notification.

Ford Taurus SE 1999. Dome Light - Door Ajar indicator problem. This is an intermittent problem, hence far more difficult to isolate. OK. I will be thorough in describing this "set of problems" as I do...

i must say that i feel your pain with this,, my door ajar light does the same thing but my dome light doesn't come on when the doors are open, i have to flick the switch on the dome light to make it come on. In my opion and i stress my opion it saounds like a issue with the body controller, im not sure what ford calls it but it controls all the body functions, i dont think the low coolant light is connected to the body contoller but i dont know this for sure, i think that light is controlled bny the engine ecm. some times a dealer can connect to the body controller and see if there are any fault codes for circuits that it controls and or monitors, also they can reflash or update the configeration and or calibration level cause ford release's fixes for issues all the time, same theory works for any control module on a vehicle. i dont think any of the auto parts stores have the right program to connect to bofy controlers but i could be wrong, worth looking into. i only put up with mine cause i use it as a beater, if you are worried about your dome light staying on and drianing your battery then you could pull out or disconnect the dome lights for the time being, its not a fix but just a band-aid.

Deck lid and all doors ajar.

How often do you see all the door ajar switches stuck ? Come on ! This is probably a GEM module problem ! GEM - generic electronic module . The real thing to do ,( not try ) would be to have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes !

97 Lincoln Contiental drivers door ajar message stays on what can i do? Can I remove the door jam sensors or door ajar warning relay? If I can where exactly are the located

It is a sticky sensor in the door latch mechanism. Spray it w/ WD-40 and follow up with a dose of silicone spray. Open/close doors several times and it should be ok. If you have a problem with 1 door the other 3 are sure to follow---DO THIS TO ALL 4 DOORS!!!!!!!!!
