Just about everyone does with either an old car or a new car with high mileage.how excessive? is oil consumption.well first thing is to check for oil leaks either underneath the motor or any oil lines feed into the motor .any major leaks would be pretty noticeable.if none are present then one would assume that your motor is burning the oil through the exhaust system .check to see what color smoke is coming threw the tail pipe.blue or black smoke indicates oil burning white will indicate engine coolant burning.in any case some color smoke is normal just depends on how much.so lets say your exhaust smoke is normal still could be burning oil just not a noticeable amount.on average you shouldnt have to add anymore than 2 quarts a month or every 1000 miles .depending on your driving conditions if you are having to add more than this there would be a leak some where or heavy color smoke.keep up on oil changes and always add lucas oil usually 1 quart its alot thicker than conventional oil so it reduces engine wear and will handle any small leaks in the engine components like the pistons and rings.if problem still present get to a dealer or certified mechanic as soon as possible good luck.

Excessive oil consumption through intake

Possibilities are worn intake valve stem seals.
Partially blocked crankcase breather system including flame trap.
Excessive piston blow-by.
Engine oil overfull.
Restricted intake.
Turbo (if fitted) leaking oil seals.

Sorry can't help further without more details and description of symptoms and checks already made.

Loss of engine power and excessive oil consumption

You had the codes read out at a local parts place? Most will do it free.
Oil has to be going some place. If it's not on the road, then I would certainly expect smoke. The performance may have nothing to do with the oil consumption, you should not assume they're connected. I had similar oil loss, turned out to be a leak in the oil filter, only leaked when on the road, not in my garage.

Is it normal for my 2013 subaru xv crosstrek to have excessive oil consumption?

Yes that is normal, Subaru failed to tell customers of the oil consumption, if you go to your Subaru dealer they will fill oil to level & tell you to come back in 1200 miles time, they use 1quart every 1200 miles

Abnormal exhaust smoke

definitely an oil consumption problem. How many miles? Could be worn rings and or valve guides. The oil light on when hot indicates low level or possible or weak oil pump. Check compression for possible head gasket or cracked head. I wouldn't drive it untill diagnosed.

Excessive oil consumption. Some smoking when accelerating. No visiable external leaks. Any Idea? 1995 GMC Sierra 2500 5.7 L

excessive oil consumption and smoking is usually due to worn rings and/or valve guides in the engine. If you observe blue smoke coming out of the tailpipe, it signals a worn out engine.

If no external leaks, that's what it is. Maybe try to change the oil with a high mileage oil when changing the oil and filter.

I'm afraid, that these conditions don't get better with time.

A replacement motor, or overhaul of the present one is recommended if you cannot pass emissions tests in your area if required by law.

No more than 1 quart between oil changes ... usually about 3000 miles under most circumstances.

Car loses oil checked under car no leak checked gaskets and engine no leak my guess its BURNING oil?

Normal oil consumption for a car is about 1 quart per 3,000miles. If you can calculate how much of a quart low you are per oil change you will be able to tell whether your oil consumption is excessive or not.
