The only time the windows wont work is when you have power windows and the battery is compleatly dead. it is possible for the windows to still roll down on low power ( not enough to start the car. but enough to roll the windows down)

the only reason for the hammer is if you get in an accedent and the door jams shut and jams the window then you can break the window to get out.

hope that answered it

How do I check your clutch safety switch in my 94 Saturn because I think is bad

Driver side window stoped and the fuse clics

The clicking would be a Relay or resettable circuit breaker, not a fuse. There is also a Relay in the door for the AUTO one touch window feature.

There is a part called a window regulator which pushes and pulls the window to move in its track. The regulator is probably intact as the window has not fallen inside the door. Sometimes a plastic tooth can break and jam the gears.

You would have to remove the door panel, including hidden fasteners and unplug the motor from the One-touch relay to check for continuity in the window motor.

Because the glass is something which can break and be a bigger problem, you need to keep the glass from falling if you switch motors. A Glass shop would be the repair facility to go to for this problem. Many have waiting rooms and can order the parts in advance.

This in-door service can easily be done within an hour.

2005 jeep grand cherokee transmission control system error

Okay, wish you would of listed the code # but thats okay, the way you explained it sounds like the gear selector switch is bad, this switch is located on the side of ******, the computer and ****** think its in d3 this is cause most of the time 90% of the time to a bad selector switch also called a neutral safety switch,

replace switch reset codes and check ****** fluid , not sure how far you drove like this but if fluid is brunt i would have it flushed, not drain and fill but flushed, a BG flush.

I think with a flush and selector switch you will be all set, good day.

Neutral safety switch in a 1999 monte carlo

Nope. The neutral switch has 2 functions. It prevents the engine from starting in any other gear but park and neutral. It also switches on the back up lights when in reverse. You have electrical problems located elsewhere.

My windows go up and down, but do not go up level so they jam, how can l level them up

You will need to take the outer door panel off and repair the regulators. Regulators are what guide the windows up and down. You may find this above your expertise and I would think hard before starting this as the glass can break quite easily.

If you want more specifics please let me know.

Drivers side window regulator clip broke..cant find a replacement clip! Perhaps the wrong name for piece..part that holds the glass to the actual window regulator??

Is it the kind where a bolt goes through the regualtor into that "clip"? If so, they are usually part of the glass and you would need a window to get them. I can tell you that if I worked in a glass shop then I would keep the old ones laying around just for such an emergency.

The driver window (power) will only go down approx. a quarter inch, then stop as if its stuck. It is able to go back up again.

It is possible for a plastic part called a Window Regulator to break in different places. Sometimes just a tooth will break and jam the motor gear. Other times the entire window will drop at the break.

You can get this fixed at a Glass shop in less than an hour while you wait. If you make an appointment, they may get the part for you or some shops prefer the customer bring the part.
It is really up to the shop on how they do business.

There may be fasteners attaching the Regulator to the glass which are difficult to remove without the right tool. And an experienced person may not break the glass trying to fix the mechanism.

Had brakes replaced on my 2002 Explorer in Sep 2010 and had to have emergency brake pads replaced yesterday. My husband was under the impression they were the same. Are the emergency pads separate from...

First, the part for your window is called a Regulator. A glass shop is exactly what you need. The glass shops have a lot of experience from break-ins and the window regulators are constantly breaking when used for fast food places, ATM's, and getting the mail from the road. The point is the Regulators should be made stronger because of how we use our cars.

Just go by the Glass shop and set up an appointment and they will get the part for you. The Regulators are available at Autozone, Oreillys and other aftermarket places, but some shops will install the customer supplied parts and others expect to make a little $ selling the part with installation. You can wait while its fixed, about 45 minutes to do it.

The Emergency brakes are separate from the Main brakes. If you live in a State with Annual Vehicle Inspections, the Emergency brakes should have been fixed in Sept. with the rest. Most good Mechanics will tell you once they see their condition. In the Rustbelt, you can have a big problem in fixing the E brakes and attaching cables.

The E brake is a drum-type and is hidden within the rear Rotor hub. When the rear Rotors are removed to machine or replace, the E brake is exposed. This is the first opportunity to inspect them.

So far, your Dealer has provided truthful information.
