Question is the "roaring noise" only occurring when the car is in motion? Does your vehicle strain to get into gear(s)? If so then it could be your Torque converter. However; you said "It appears to be coming from your drivers side front end." If this is so then I would say that you have a bad wheel bearing, which would give a type of "roaring noise while the wheel is rotating. This is a much cheaper repair than a Transmission job, but should be taken to a shop right away nonetheless. Peace. God bless.

On a guess-- you ask????

Could be the trans

You didn't give any details of your thoughts
or experience using it,so you know more about
it than we do & under what conditions

Doesn't sound like a fun or cheap fix,if there is one

SOURCE: Whirring noise from the front of car as you drive.

I would first rule out the possibility of a "rough" tire making the noise. You can move the two front tires to the rear of the vehicle and see if that changes the noise any. If it does, you might have a worn tire that needs replacing or a tire that has worn unevenly and should be rotated and balanced more often....

Good luck..

The motor is gone and the switch could be gone too.

I would replace both to be on the safe side.
The switch is not that expensive. The motor is more expensve.
