Ok so here I go again. I have a 2006 nissan altima 2.5s..... I've had issues where I kept getting a code P0037 bank 1 sensor 2 heater circuit low. After replacing the downstream 02 sensor about 4 or 5 times and performing numerous drive cycles I could not get the monitors to set. Well I have successfully passed inspection What's weird is is that I cleared the code check engine light gone. Started to drive at a steady 55 on cruise control. Drove for about maybe 60 or so miles. Kept checking the code scanner to see if the monitors were cleared and no luck. Then at one point I disconnected the code reader and reconnected it and this time all the monitors except one was set no check engine light but the P0037 code was in the computer. I called a friend of mi e who is a tech at Honda and explained to him what was going on and he said don't shut the car off and go get it inspected. I did and I passed. But when I shut the car off and turned it on and started to drive the check engine light came back on.....

Use a DVOM to test the circuit going to the sensor. I don't know what colors the wires are, I do believe the battery pos wire is red with a yellow tracer. I think the ground is black, but one will be a ground wire and the other will be battery voltage with the key on. It may even be a blown fuse on #16. Good luck

it should be the o2 after cat converter ----and the following information courtesy of OBDP0037 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low B1S2 OBD-II Trouble Code Technical Description Article by Dale Dale Toalston ASE Certified Technician Generic: HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 2) Nissan: Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 2 Bank 1 - heater voltage low What does that mean? Heated Oxygen sensors (HO2S) are inputs used by the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) to determine oxygen content in the exhaust system. Bank 1, sensor 2 refers to the second sensor back on bank 1. The PCM uses the information gained from the Bank 1,2 HO2S mainly to monitor the efficiency of the catalytic converter. Integral to this sensor is a heater element The PCM controls this heater to warm up the sensor to operating temperature. This allows the engine to enter closed loop faster and reduces emissions on cold startup. The PCM continuously monitors the heater circuits for abnormal voltages or in some cases, even amperages. Depending on the make of vehicle, the Oxygen sensor heater is controlled one of two ways. One way is that the PCM directly controls the voltage feed to the heater either directly or via a HO2S relay and a ground is supplied from the vehicle's common ground. The other way would be a fused 12 volt Battery feed (B+) that feeds 12 volts to the heater element anytime the ignition is on and the control of the heater is done by a driver in the PCM which controls the ground side of the heater circuit. Finding out which one you have is important because the PCM activates the heater under various circumstances. If the PCM detects an abnormally low voltage condition on the heater circuit, P0037 may set. Symptoms Symptoms of a P0037 DTC may include: Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illumination There will likely be no other symptoms Causes Potential causes of a P0037 trouble code may include: Bank 1,2 oxygen sensor heater element has failed Physical damage to heated oxygen sensor has occurred Control circuit (or voltage feed, depending on system) is shorted to ground PCM Oxygen sensor heater driver has failed === Possible Solutions== Do a visual inspection of the Bank 1,2 HO2S and wiring harness. If there is any damage to the sensor or any damage to the wiring, repair/replace as needed. Make sure wiring is routed away from exhaust. If all appears okay, unplug the Bank 1,2 HO2S and verify that there is 12 volts B+ present with the key on engine off, (or ground is present, depending on the system). Verify the heater control (ground) circuit is intact. If so, remove the o2 sensor and inspect for damage. If you have access to resistance specifications you can use a Ohmmeter to perform a resistance test of the heater element. Infinite resistance indicates an open in the heater. Replace the o2 sensor as necessary.

O2 Emission Monitors & Evap Monitor-- are two
different systems

Get ALL your OBD Codes & work them one at a time,
& DO NOT Clear any data with code reader or removing
battery cable, or the monitors ALL have to run again

The heater may work in the sensor, but the sensor doesn't
switch fast enough or is worn out & the front sensors get
replaced at 100,000, before they fail or slow down

The Evap Codes will be needed, to work on that issue
That monitor runs last & only every few days

IF--- you had professional scan tool software, you would see
11 monitors & maybe 8 that run on your vehicle

There will be at least 2 for the O2,one for cylinder misfire,
one for evap, one for egr,& three others

P0037. heater sen. where is it on the engine?


The code is for the heater in the O2 sensor bank one sensor two. That would be the sensor after the catalytic converter on bank one.
It could be the sensor itself or the power supply for the heater.

If i am getting the codes P0037 P 0057 for the 04 nissan maxima is that the front or rear oxygen sensor ?

DTC P0057 - Bank 2 Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Low


Cause could be harnesses connections, wiring, HO2S heater itself or ECM issue. Diagram location in THIS LINK.

The engine light and VSC light are on (Vehicle Singapore 2004 Lexus RX 300. Diagnostics report Error code P0037


your o2 sensor is bad. vsc will go on for any small DTC displayed on the MIL (cel)

- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM) When is the code detected? The P0037 is set when the ECM detects an excessively low voltage through the heated oxygen sensor heater circuit P0037 LEXUS Description Oxygen Sensors (O2S) or Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2S) need to reach a minimum operating temperature of 750 degrees F to produce an accurate voltage signal. The faster the heated oxygen sensor reaches that temperature the faster the sensor will start sending an accurate signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM).

In order to achieve the require temperature, a heater element is included inside the heated oxygen sensor. The ECM controls the heated oxygen sensor heater element based on signals from the engine coolant temperature and engine load. The ECMcontrols the heater element circuit by allowing current flow to ground.

The ECM monitors the voltage signal received through the heater element circuit and determines the state of the circuit by comparing the voltage detected with the factory specifications.

P0507 Idle Control System RPM Higher Than Expected
bank 1 is the side with number 1 spark plug but the o2 sensor is going to be the one just before the catalytic convertor. the other codes has to with idle and you either have a vacuum leak (which would cause eratic idle(up/down))or you have no accelerator cable and there is a problem with one of the sensors either at the throttle body or on the pedal assembly.
