Question about 1998 Saturn SL

Car runs fine at first, after it is warmed up and running for about 10-15 minutes car sputters at a full stop when brakes are applied feels like the car is going to turn off, but hasn't yet. No check engine light on,and when the car was scanned no codes came up. 1998 saturn sl1

    change ects and pcv valve. get the brass nose 2 wire ects and the fixed orifice pcv valve. look on saturnfans dot com for instructions.

    part numbers are in that site also. these cars have serious blowby when they get old, causing oil consumption and allanner of related mayhem.

Could be a vacuum leak that is only apparent when the car is up to temperature. Or a sensor (O2, MAP/MAF etc.) that is only used after the engine control system goes into closed loop mode. Or a defective temperature sensor that makes the ECU believe the engine is still cold, and so supplies the wrong air/fuel ratio.

Is there a slow idle adjustment? Most newer vehicles have no idle adjustment (computer controlled) but this one is old enough that it just might. Good luck!

    The idle is low but when the ac unit is turned on the idle goes back up to normal and the car runs fine. When ac is turned off car idle drops and then starts to putter at stops again

Previous to 2000 Ford had a cylinder head gasket problem with some of the v6 engines failing at two cylinders at opposite corners of engine (don't know what engineyou have) They supposedly corrected that, but I'm not sure how well the correction worked. I doubt if the cylinder head is cracked but if some amount of compression is getting into cooling system it's possible that it may give you strange sensor readings. When testing, it's also possible that some air escaped and returned everything to "normal" ('till it builds up again).
At this point, I would get a second opinion on this. As well as a comprehensive computer scan, have someone do a radiator hydrocarbon test...that will reveal any compression in cooling system from gasket or any other source. (Don't mention that it was checked before, just say what originally happened so objective testing will be done.)

dear friend-filling the tank has nothing to do with the engine order to cancel this light,disconnect the battery and leave for a while.reconnect battery and check light,it should be of,if the same happen again take vehicle to a dealership for a diagnostic report.

I have a 1997 Fiesta auto, runs fine apart from a slight gearbox issue. When starting from cold and selecting Drive the car will sit there for upto 5 seconds before moving away and will stall if the brakes...

I would be looking for a vacumn hose leaking. The cold engine needs a rich mixture and braking uses the vacumn booster causing the mixure to lean. A warm engine races with the extra air.

Sounds like your brakes are sticking. Possibly the emergency brake is not disengaging entirely? Stop the car and put in park. Apply emergency brake as hard/far as possible. Then release and put in drive and try to go. Most emergency brakes are self adjusting. If the problem still persists, have it taken to your mechanic.

I have a 1993 ford festiva its a good little car it runs good when the engine is cold but when it warms up it sputters and dies on me when it dies it fires right back up like nothing ever happened It...

If it has an automatic choke, this will keep it revving more when the engine is cold and less when hot. Maybe adjust the idle setting screw on the carburettor so it revs slightly more. Try that before it is running hot. Only increase the revving gradually to the stage where stalling would be avoided when hot. Gradually so that there is not too much revving when cold. Adjusting and testing over a few runs could be a good strategy

"cold" start lurching and "indecision" in choosing between electric and gas engine. Mechanically felt like a slipping clutch. Problem subsided after about 10 minutes run time.

Partial cars are still in the infant stage and there will be problems at the point where the CPU has to decide wether to power up and charge the battery or run on a dwindling battery supply. The cars are designed to charge the battery off the brake application so on long down hill runs with the brakes applied the energy is converted to charge the battery and it will be at this point if the battery is nearly flat that the CPU is hesitant to start the engine or rely on the charge from the brakes. I would think that there will be a huge learning curve before you get the hang of it. However having said all that , I would think a trip to a service centre to check it out might be in order.

Front End problem

Sounds like front brake rotors are warped or you have loose tie rod ends,should have brakes an front checked

Isolate the brake booster by pinching the vacuum line connected to the booster and try braking. If this works your brake booster is bad.

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee stalls when brakes are applied

My 2000 Grand Cherokee had the same problem, without all the sputtering, it would just die approaching a stop. We could only keep it running by slightly pushing down on the gas petal when coming to a stop. I replaced the Throttle Position Sensor, but that didn't change anything. A new mechanic I found replaced the Idle Air Control Valve, and we've had no problems in a week.

Vibration when applying brakes

First check the brake pads in the car ,also if the car as the ABS in it then it will generate a series of vibration when are applied brakes indicating its working ,if there excess vibration you need get your brakes checked ....
