Are you getting the check engine light? If so the electronics may have gone out. You may not need a rebuild but you won't know till you pull the oil pan on the transmission and inspect the contents. You may also have lost the neutral safety switch. It is mounted on the drivers side of the transmission. Check those out first and let me know what codes you get.
For Ponchoboy; the clunking and hissing you hear are teminal root causes. Drop the oil pan and if it has a lot of filings and metal it is time for a rebuild.
Hope this helps; Rate me highly;

the whinning noise is definalty a signiture of the bearing, and they do on occasion start making the noise long before other systoms of a bad bearing appear. There is really nothing else in the suspension that moves in a manner to cause the whinning pitched sound, other than the axel, but there signature has allways been a clicking around turns, so id definatly look cloesr at the bearings......good luck

either you have a fuel pump that went out, or your fuel pump relay went. These fuel pumps last around 100,000 miles, so if you're way under that, it's more than likely the relay, if you're close to that, it could be either.

The first palce I would check is the drive shaft and universal joints. These will cause vibrations when they are about to go out. If there is any play at all in the universal joints they need replaced. Not a hard or expensive repair and like I said check them for play before you go any further.
