Most common is a plugged fuel filter as they should be changed every 30,000 miles if that does not work check for a melted converter

This could be something simple or complicated.
First, when was the last tune-up done?
second, any check engine lights and or trouble codes?
if not then it may be possible that you have low fuel pressure, sticky fuel injector, faulty fuel pressure regulator, faulty ignition coil or control module, this is some of the basic stuff, keep in mind that the computer does not connect to everything on this car, so the ECM will not know if things like fuel pump or regulator are bad or out of spec, or if there is something mechanically wrong with the engine..

Rick, it could be a number of things. If the engine otherwuse idles good, it could be a sensor such as a MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor or other sensor, or it could be a fuel problem. It could be a lot of things and without being able to see it I hate to guess at things like this. I would imagine that the car has a check engine light on with a problem like this. It should be put on a scanner to see if it indicates anything specific. If there are engine codes, please list them and maybe we can come up with something more specific.

Well Rick, more information really is needed. Does it bog down and then pick up and run ok? Does it happen every time you give it gas? Is there a possibility that water got into your gas tank? If the car is not driveable, I might suspect a fuel problem. Possibly fuel pressure, bad gas or water in the fuel, possibly bad fuel injector(s) etc. It might be a good idea to run some injector cleaner through the system, and maybe add a can of dry gas if there is a possibility of water in the system. I use Lucas upper cylinder lubricant and injector cleaner every few fill up's and with 160K my injectors are still working great.

SOURCE: my 2004 pontiac grand prix window it will go down

Does it try to come up, EG is there power being applied when you press the UP switch? if it makes no sound or movement when pressing the UP switch it is probably a worn out switch - available at Pontiac dealers though you may have to order it and wait a few days - have your VIN number for the parts desk and you'll get the part in no time - the switch levers out of the panel - use a plastic tool if possible to prize the switch out so you don't damage the surrounding trim - the cable connector clips off the old switch and goes on the new switch, press the switch home into the recess and jiggle it a bit to make it dead flat - window should work now.
If it IS making an effort to come up then either you have a poor earth or power connection making it so there is not enough power to pull the windows up (which is harder than down due to the weight of the window) -- check the cabling behind the door panel, and as above pull out the switch and check its connector too.
OR... the window is out of alignment and is jamming - putting it back in alignment means taking off the door panel and getting at the bottom of the window runner, loosening the bolt(s) on the bottom of the runner and moving it sideways so it hold the window steady but not tightly, you may have to try having it tighter or looser against the window till you get the best performance - also oil the moving parts/cables of the window mechanism (dont get oil on the glass, it will smear for weeks) to give the best chance of smooth operation.

SOURCE: code P0442 on a 2000 grand prix

That means that there is a fuel evaporation leak detected in your fuel tank. Generally this means that your fuel cap is loose- go tighten it and see if the code goes away after driving your vehicle for awhile. The problem can also be holes in the evaporation hoses...but not likely.

My 1990 pontiac grand prix le will start and idle fine but when you give it gas and it gets up to 2000 rpm it bogs out and dies! hELp! what can it be?

it could be either a clogged catalytic converter, or a mass air flow sensor. One way to check the cat is to let the car run for about 10 minutes and look at the underside of the car to see if anything is glowing, or check it after a very short drive. To check the Mass airflow sensor locate it and unplug it while the car is running and see if it clears up.
