How do I get my car to start it won't start. Charged the battery. The cars turns over. I know I needed a thermostat but the car wasn't over heating. Will that cause the car not to start? I listened to the gas we'll fuel pump I hear a click. I checked the fuses. Changed the fuel pump fuse just in case. I don't know what else to do.

My thought which is common, is it can be as simple as a fuel filter. Sometimes they get clogged and even sometimes they get a vapor lock, Fuel filters are cheep to replace and should do often anyway. Try that and let me know.

Obtain an OBD tester from your local Autoparts store. Run the diagnostic from the OBD port underneath the dash and see if you get any codes. Most likely you will and it will point you in the right direction. My bet is an ignition relay has died.

Spray a little "quick start" into the intake, this should get it to start if the battery is delivering a spark to the cylinders. If you pumped the gas too much it might be flooded!

Testimonial: "Where is the Intake? If you are talking to me not sure how to work this website. And yes they took my car pumped gas and over filled it but I don't know if that would hurt it. Bc the next day it was working. But two days before that it was having a little trouble starting before they pumped my tank. So I don't know if that is it. I have the spray but don't know where to spray it."

Ok my 1983 camaro has a v6 in it and every time I want to start it I have to hook it up to a portable battery charger and start it up like that but now it won't even start up. Even when the battery is...

Sounds as though the battery is no good,
unless you know otherwise & also had it tested
Charging a battery doesn't address it's internal
condition
You have battery cables that corrode inside & can be
voltage drop tested
You have the starter & solenoid, ignition sw & such, to name
a few, lots of possible causes & things to check

I over heated, the serpentine belt snapped. Opened the hood to find steam rapidly coming out of both the antifreeze and out of the engine right by the head gasket. It wasn't smoke not blue or black jus

Perform a compression test on your cylinders. One unfortunate result of overheating is the blown head gasket. Without compression your motor will not run. Tester are not super expensive or some stores will lend tools.

Car won't start and arms alarm when I turn the ignition

Dead battery armed the security system. Remove the battery cable let the system reset. Charge the battery. Use the key to unlock the door instead of the keyless entry. This resets the alarm once the battery is charged.

My 2004 Honda Pilot ran fine then a hour later won't start. At first thought battery so we charged up usig one of those chargers you plug in. Lights flicker, and clicking sounds but won't turn

Check batry terminals are secure & free from corosion, check security of earth strap to engine & main power wire on starter, if ok have the batry load tested to ensure it can perform under load as the starter needs a lot of current. Have you tried a jump start?

1993 nissan pick up won't start

Possibly a bad connection on the positive side coming from the battery or a weak ground. Check where the leads join the terminal clamps. Has the battery been verified as good? It doesn't take a lot of amps to run lights but it does to turn over the engine. Jump starting it does not require a fully charged battery.

My 1999 mitsubishi diamante will not start. I got a friend to jump it but it still would not start. I took the battery out and took it to autozone to charge it. But autozone would not charge it because...

It sounds like you need a new starter. If you hear the starter click when you turn the key to start, replace your starter since you already replaced the battery. You might want to have your alternator checked out, or when you get your car started, test the battery terminals with a multimeter. You should have around 14 volts with the car running. If not, you will need a new alternator. The alternator won't keep the car from starting though, unless the battery was drained because it wasn't charged. Even then it is the battery keeping the car from starting.

If the starter is not clicking, check your fuses under the hood. If all checks out, you may have a bad ignition switch.

Trying to start the car I get "instant draw-down" of the battery and the car won't start--the battery is fully charged

the battery may be fully charged but that doesn't mean that it doesn't have a weak cell, next time you go to start the engine remove all of the battery filler caps (if it has any) & get someone to look into the holes to see if they can see if any of the cells are bubbling,if any are the battery is faulty & needs to be replaced......hope this helps......cheers.
PS. don't get your eyes to close when looking into the holes of the battery,it might be safer to use a mirror.
