If you didn't align the marks on the cam shafts and crankshaft pulleys, you might be out of mechanical timing.

Why wont stratus start

seems like if it was getting fuel it would start. if it starts with fluid it should stay running if its getting fuel. also there are two different cam gears that come on these engines. if the wrong one is installed it wont start unless you unplug the cam sensor. make sure you have the right gear. if it dosnt look the same as the old one, its wrong. also check your engine vacum while cranking. if the vacum is low its a sign the timing chain is off the marks. your plugs would all be wet with fuel if it wont fire, check for this if above checks out

Is there a way to check the timing chain without removing the cover ( this is quite a job) for a look at the timing marks

no way of doing so. need to remove cover. i have been doing this since 1996 and have never seen chain driven nissan jump timing. have seen some timing belt cars jump, but never chain driven engines. i think you have something else going on. i have done many and many timing chain jobs on frontiers and maximas, but not for a timing chain jumping issue. upper timing chain shoes wear out and engine gets noisy. i have to say i have seen some with the primary chain stretched a bit, but car still ran fine.

My ford f150 is getting fire and gas but wont start i replaced the module, pickup in the dist.,cap, button, new plugs fuelpump, filter any ideas

check to see it the timing chain broke or jumped, have checked to see if you were getting spark and fuel in the begining.if you had these before then you replaced some things without needing them, unless its been a while since a tune-up was check the timing chain turn the engine over until the timing marks are aligned.the pointer across from the 0 mark on the timing cover.then pull the distributor cap noting were #1 plug terminal is and the rotor should be pointing at that spot.if the timing chain broke it will sound like there is no compression.

What causes the truck die out after being started, just recently i got the timing done and now it wont stay on

did it run fine before the timing ( did you have to replace the chain or belt, tensioners ?) I would re-check the cam timing as it sounds like the timing is off by one cam gear notch.

Car wont start

At first, I thought 'coil pack'. But you said it tried to start. So that's out. You might check that you're getting spark just to be thorough.

Did it ever start again after the stall on the interstate?

If not, I'm leaning towards the timing chain.

What happens if your timing chain broke:
  • The timing chain no longer turns the cam(s)
  • The cam(s) no longer open/close the valves
  • The valves become stationary, remaining open or closed depending on the position of the cam(s)
  • If even one valve is open in a cylinder, no compression.
  • No compression, no start.
How do you confirm this without tearing apart your engine?

Do a compression test on all cylinders. If only one or two have compression (or one or more have zero compression), I'm tipping over towards the timing chain.

Have a compression test done.

Hope this helps
