Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a 2004 Nissan Quest. The keyless remote only works when you hold it against the car. Not at any distance further. I have changed the battery's in BOTH remotes and both have the same symptom. Sometimes (once every couple of months). It'll start working normal, but it doesn't last long. Can you help me?

Thank you Kyle for your response. That's what I thought. I've done several internet searches to find out where the receiver is located and came up with nothing. Any ideas where the receiver might be? I'm hopeful that it's just a loose wire.

It sound like the receiver in the vehicle is the source of the problem either shorting out or the receivers signal is malfunctioning

David the receiver should be under the drivers side of the dash. I watch a couple videos on how to get to it. You have to remove the dash panel(3screws)and then a metal shield(6screws). I have a vague picture or where it should be from another site

You might also try synchronizing the key fob and car by turn the key to the on/off position 6-8 times the flashers will blink telling you you are in program mode then push the lock button on both remotes

SOURCE: Keyless Remote Won't Work - But Car Starts

The remote receiver unit is located in the rear view mirror. This may be faulty. Since the car is new (less than a year?) you still may have the factory warranty.

2005 Nissan Sentra, the keyless entry locks the doors but does not unlock them.

does your unlock button work in car? If it does, do you have another keyless entry key fob? If so does it work? If you just replaced the battery you can try removing battery and cleaning contacts within remote. I know some of the nissan altimas had the same issue and the only solution was a new key fob. Good Luck

The remote of my nissan quest 2002 is not opening the door, does it use battery, is it changeable? pls assist me icant use the car without the remote

The remote may have a screw or not.If not, then use a butter knife to pry the case open and change the battery.(it will be a coin-type battery like a CR2016 or CR2032,but look at the existing battery).

2004 Nissan maxima Keyless Remote doesn't work to unlock / lock the doors

your battery is probably dead. Take the remote to Orielly auto parts and they have a tester that will tell you if the battery is dead. If the other buttons work on the remote then the remote itself is the problem and will need rplaced.

Nissan Quest 2004 Tail Lights

Robynumber1,

Thanks for the email back. The nissan quest tail lights werenot operating, but the break lights were working. This was ultimately caused by a blown fuse. The fuse was blown by loose trailer lighting wires dragging on the ground, thus shorting. Problem fixed.
