SOURCE: i am trying to replace the front wiper motor for

Check that you have connected the wiper motor correctly - ensure that you havent inadvertently got the polarity wrong!.
Leave the wiper arms off until you get the motor to run and park using the normal wiper on/off switch.
The motor 'park' control switching is normally an integral part of the motor drive gear and is not adjustable.
During your testing, affix a temporary indicator pointer to the end of a wiper arm drive shaft (use masking tape or similar) to prevent damage to motor or levers.

SOURCE: Ford Taurus 1999SE-Windshield wiper motor just hums. How to fix ?

Removal & Installation To Remove:

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  3. Remove the wiper arms.
  4. Remove the 8 plastic retainers and the 6 clips holding the cowl vent screens to the inner panels. Turn the retainers 1⁄4 turn counterclockwise to remove.
  5. Remove the cowl vent screens.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the wiper motor and remove the 4 bolts that mount the module assembly to the cowl.
  7. Remove the windshield wiper module from the vehicle.
  8. Rotate the wiper operating arm in a clockwise direction to gain access to the bolt retaining the arm to the motor. WARNING
Always rotate the wiper operating arm in a clockwise motion or damage to the motor could occur.
  9. Remove the nut retaining the wiper operating arm to the wiper motor.
  10. Remove the three wiper motor-to-wiper module assembly retaining bolts and remove the motor from the vehicle.
To Install:
  1. Position the wiper motor on to the module assembly. Install the three wiper motor-to-wiper module assembly retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 115-151 in lbs (13-17 Nm).
  2. Position the wiper operating arm on the wiper motor output shaft. Install the mounting nut and tighten to 22-29 ft-lbs (30-40 Nm).
  3. Position the windshield wiper module onto the cowl. Install the mounting bolts and tighten to 106 in-lbs (12 Nm).
  4. Connect the wiper motor electrical connector.
  5. Position the cowl vent screens onto the inner panels. Install the 8 plastic retainers and the 6 clips holding the cowl vent screens to the inner panels. Turn the retainers 1⁄4 turn counterclockwise to install.
  6. Install the wiper arms.
  7. Connect the battery ground cable.
  8. Adjust wiper arms if necessary.

Here is the picture of the motor....it is the round object in the middle of the picture that looks like a can and has a square block on the end of it.

You have to remove the cowl vent panel....just under the windshield. $64.00 for a new motor.

Wipers not working

A little trick to try is untightening the mounting bolts of the wiper motor and then retightening. Sometimes its a matter of re-establishing a good ground.

The wiper parking problem is an internal wiper motor function. Some electric contacts are suppose to derail the motor and it is suppose to cycle into the locked position and turn off. Its last movements are automatic.

The intermittent part of the problem can be the contact switch on the turn stalk but there is a timer box on some models which the stalk switch controls. Some wiper motors have the timer box beneath a shield on the wiper motor. Those controls can be changed.

1997 Lincoln Mark viii wipers wont stow

It sounds like your park switch in the motor has failed or the power feed to the switch has failed. if you are good with tools you could remove motor and replace the switch, after you have checked that the plug is suppling a permant 12v supply and a switched supply from the wiper control switch, the park control switch allows the wipers to return to the parked lower position after you have turned them off.

Wipers only work on fast speed. The intermitten will not work. When you turn them off they stop at that position.

This is most likely a problem in the Wiper stalk control, although the wiper motor should complete the wipe cycle and Park the blades.

The wiper control is a part of the multifunction switch that it is mounted in. The switch is called an MFS and it is usually replaced as a unit. To replace the MFS switch you will need to remove the steering column cover and on some models, the Ignition switch. The Ignition switch may have a wide round flange on it which will prevent the plastic steering column cover from coming off when you want it to.

The problem can also be in the connectors which attach to the MFS, so I would recommend checking for a loose fitting connector and then trying the wipers again. Be careful not to break the tabs holding the connector to your part. Look for corrosion in the pin connections.

There are several female Torx bolts holding the MFS in position. They will have to be removed and replaced to change the MFS. It is not impossible that the wiper motor is also bad. You will know if the blades still refuse to Park. The intermittent feature and the speeds are part of the MFS switch and that part should work once the MFS is replaced.

If this does not sound like a job you want to perform, a Body shop or Independent mechanical shop can do the job; so can a Dealer. The MFS can run between $65-$95.

Windsheild wipers not working, tried another wiper motor and fuses are ok am i missing a inline fuse or do i have to replace the switch?

could be the switch.but if it has intermittent wipers i think, not sure though, that that year has an intermittent wiper modul at base of steering column or near there. if it does unplug the two connectors to it and plug them into each other.if they now work then a new module is needed. but you dont need to replace it, you just wont have intermittent

Wipers won't stop wiping.

Sounds like your intermittent wiper circuit is defective. Normally the intermittent feature is engaged by one of the functions on the multi-function switch (usually on the steering column). The circuit of the intermittent wiper periodically activates a relay that closes across the "Wiper On" switch. Your intermittent wiper circuit is likely defective and holding its relay closed (or the relay is stuck closed), thereby keeping the wipers on. Note: The wiper motor has an internal switch that opens when the wipers are in the park position and that is designerd to stop the wipers in the park position. When you turn on the wipers (or the intermittent relay is closed), the motor's internal switch is shunted such that the wiper does not stop at the park point of the cycle.
