SOURCE: asc light comes on and engine cuts out

When your ASC light is on this is to let you know your Automatic Stability Control system is switched off press the ASC button Till light is off /ASC is on this works with your rev limiter and should stabilized your idle. If the problem persists have your throttle control unit checked as thi can trigger the ASC light as well and may also activate the ABS light if not fixed

SOURCE: 1998 range rover p38 2.5 dse auto engine stalls

Sounds like something is overheating then and possibly a sensor. Not familiar with Rovers but might be a problem with the CAS and/or CPS which tells the ECU the motor is running and when to fire. Also maybe the IAC is bad and when you go from throttle to idle it can't control it and allows it to die.

E.T.C. light on dash, runs tickover only, can switch engine off and back on cures problem for few mins.then back to tickover only. problem only occurs when vehicle moving, will rev all day when stationary

hello sir

if the lights flicker and the motor doesn't start you have a dead battery. If everything works alright and the lights just flicker, It's the excited gas hog anticipating sucking up more gas winking at you.

thanking u

My Astra CDTi has cut down to tickover and will not rev on throttle fault spanner comes on . It has happened before but cleared by turning ignition off and restarting. Tried this but no joy

run fault codes and check for accelerator position sensor and other related faults. Faults have to be physically fixed so turning the key off and on will do nothing to fix a problem

My 2007 ford transit loses power and then cuts out

I have a 2.4 diesel 375 nm model and i have been told that the problem is solved by installing the correct fuel filter. Mine loses all power and stops, and the curly light comes on, and I switch it off and start it again. It works every time but is bloody dangerous on a hill when passing someone and towing a trailer.

I have this problem with my K Reg Audi 80 1.9 tdi...Driving along say 50mph in traffic, take foot from throttle due to traffic flow, put foot back on throttle and nothing happens unless you either let...

you car is fitted with a "no fuel"system,so when you take your foot off "no fuel" goes to the engine untill it reaches 1200 revs.then it will allow fuel to flow to keep tickover/smoothness.(its computer controlled)you need to get your car onto the diagnostic computer,(skoda/seat/vw/audi)so you have the codes/items that need to be sorted. The tdi engine was one of the first engines that VW computerised and it is very reliable/powerful,compared to the peugeot/citroen engine.(briefly, the fault is not just a switch/cable),

Revs ''hunt'' on tickover, sometimes revs drop so low car cuts out

Thanks to some advice I have fixed the problem with my Granada. The pipe work from the exhaust manifold to the inlet manifold has a short piece of plastic pipe which needed replacing. This seems to have done the trick.

I would like to thank you for running this site. Without it I would still be re-starting my car each time I stop at a red light!
