Question about Ford Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

2014 Ford Focus Radio Buttons stopped working. Can turn on and off, use the "OK" button, and play a CD. I cannot change stations, use Sync, or change songs on CD.

I am trying to find a Master Reset instruction that matches my needs. Everything is older and starts with buttons that don't exist on my car.

SOURCE: problems with the radio

If the original radio was replaced, code on manual wont match. Most replacement brands have better sound quality than OEM radios. CDs for cars are on their way out (bulk and number of songs at hand) Buy a reputable brand that can accept IPODs or pendrives. All you need to know is if your present radio is DIN or Double DIN , in order to know what size to buy.

You may have fried the radio. When you have a poor ground the electrical components that you are trying to use, starter, headlights and things like that. They are going to try to ground in other places than what they are supposed to. You may have sent a lot of amperage through the radio somehow, and burned out the internal circuits. It's only a theory, you may want to check with a dealer, or a place that sevices radio's. Good luck!!

Hi, the fix is internal, sounds like the connector just came undone. The actual procedure for fixing it is complicated and for someone to fix it for you, will cost almost as much as a aftermarket stereo. Sounds like it's a good time to upgrade....

The radio won't work. It is currently on cd mode. When I put the radio on it starts playing the same cd that has been in for a week now. All the buttons dont work. I can't change the mode.

Sound as if there is an internal problem with the system. Will the CD eject when commanded? If not, try to remove it manually with a pair of tweezers or something of the sort to see if it will come back on line. You can also disconnect the battery for a few minutes to erase the units memory ( you may require a code if it has a theft feature ) to see if it will start working again. If nothing gets better, suspect an internal unit issue

Dear Neena98,
The first thing to do is run a self-test. You can do this by turning the radio on and setting it to a local station. Push the #3 and #6 preset buttons until the unit goes into a speaker test. After it enters it,push the #1 button. This will run the on-board self test. If it comes up with a fail, press the TUNE> button to display the codes. Write them down. If you want to send them to me I will send you back the info. If not,you will want to pass them on to the technician that is working on it. I will look for your response, Thanks, Chuck.

2008 Nissan Altima radio (AM/FM/CD) does not respond to buttons except on/off volume. It was playing an FM station (cant't tune/scan) and now plays a CD that won't eject.

2008 Altima radio-the sound just quit working. Everything else seems to be OK. I can change the radio stations, but no sound. Is there a fuse that could be bad?

Turn the radio off first and then disconnect the battery for 2 min then reconnect the battery. This should reset your radio and then you can eject your CD, and reset your stations and clock. Good luck

Need to change the 12v supply by the Radio

The Ford Focus has a stereo problem where the display blinks on and off, with or without the ignition on. This is not a power problem.

This problem occurs when attempting to store a radio station when a blank RDS signal is being transmitted.
To restore your stereo:
  • Insert a CD, stereo will turn on in CD mode.
  • Press MENU button
  • Select DEFAULT RESET by turning the right rotary knob and press to select
  • Select YES by tuning the right rotary knob and press select
  • Press BACK button
  • Press the RDS button once, display will read RDS OFF
  • Stereo will now work properly
To prevent this problem from occurring again, be sure some text is in the top line of the display when setting a stereo station. Do not set a station when the station name is blank in display.
