You're looking at around 1.5 hours or labor, plus parts can range from $70-$250+ depending on what is used (brand etc). Stick with GM parts. This is a job that doesn't require intense labor, so if you're not going to do it yourself, take it to your local auto repair shop, rather than a dealer.

How to Become ASE Certified?

The process involves certified employment over a given period of time by an employer performing mechanical work on vehicles or a verified school certification, then you pay a fee and take their tests and if you pass, you get a certificate that says you are certified.

My 03 chevy Malibu overheated but NEVER got into the red, I put water in it to get home and at the stop light it just cut off. we replaced water pump but still wont start

Hi Stephanie:
Water coming out the exhaust can be normal, BUT, if there is white vapour and the fluid level in the radiator is going down, that is a key indicator of a bad head gasket.
You could TRY a TEMPORARY fix with a radiator sealant, but replacing the head gasket can get expensive.
A compression test will tell you if there is a bad head gasket.
Also, check the dipstick to see if there is any indication of oil in the crank case.
Hope this helps.

2000 honda accord 4 door, cranks but won't start

This could be a number of things. It could be your fuel pump. Your vehicle cannot be getting fire. The best thing to do is take it to an ASE certified mechanic to have him check it out. If your engine light is coming on they will be able to diagnose the code. If not they can do a fuel pressure test and also test to see if the vehicle is getting fire and properly fix your vehicle. I hope this helps.

2006 ford Taurus, cold start perfect, run perfect. However, when restart the car when it is hot, no fuel pump sound, no start, gave code P0191 p1233. Any ideas, thanks.

  • If you haven't changed the Fuel Filter in the last 30,000 miles, please do that and follow it with adding Fuel Injector Cleaner to the fuel tank.
  • If there is a fuel pressure test port then please check the pressures.
  • If the fuel pressure is low then check the fuel pressure regulator.
  • If all does not works, please refer a certified mechanic locally.

My 2011 kia rio has had 3 services with kia dealer, and 2with independent vat reg garage using all kia parts. Book stamped up to date. At the minute my car is in Spain with my husband. The passenger wheel...

If the work was done by a N.I.A.S.E. certified mechanic they have to honor the work as this is a certified mechanic who has been schooled and passed the test for auto mechanics. If you replace the wheel bearings on the passenger side it is advisable to have them done on the drivers side also. That is standard knowledge.

I have have a 2003 dodge durango and I have had a smoke test done with no leaks the mechanic said it has no power to the NVLD how do I check this

Hi Richard, I'm glad to help. The mechanic is the only one that can check power to the NVLD Pump because it must be actuated with the scan tool to check power. Check for a broken wires or a pin pust out on the NVLD connector. If you don't know what fuses to check then turn the key on and with a test light check all the fuses under the hood. If they are all good then you'll need it checked out further by a certified mechanic. If you do find a fuse blown and it turns out to be the one for the NVLD then replace the pump because its most likely the culprit that blew the fuse. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Richard.

No power to fuel pump was driving and it just quit

check the fuel line that is connected to the throttle body. how you do that is have a little cup to catch the fuel have somebody turn the ignition key quickly not to start the engine just to see if fuel comes out the line. if no fuel comes out the line, that means the fuel pump in the fuel tank went bad or clogged, if fuel comes out that means your fuel injectors is clogged. have a certified mechanic take a look at your fuel injectors.i give you advice to have a certified mechanic check the fuel injectors for safety.

1995 toyota corolla dx 1.6 ac not working

AC units in vehicles are sensative components. It is highly recommended that a certified mechanic recharge or repair your system. As I recommend to others for system problems and malfunctions, I suggest taking your car to a mechanic or local auto parts store and have a diagnostics test done to determine what this problem (if any) is found. It may just be the switch in the swtich board behind the dash. You mentions a noise and a smell, which to me, indicates that the compressor (AC pump) is now faulty, however this will only be determined upon diagnosis by a certified mechanic.
