try autozone.com to see if they have your car listed for diagrams pictures and step by step instructions if your car is not listed then try your local library they have all the car manuals and even copy them for you

There should be a button on the lower part of the centre console on the same line as the hazard button. It will be on the left side marked with a padlock symbol. The doors will only stay locked as long as you don't open a door to get out. This will reset the locks to the 'open' position.
If this is the button that isn't working check if the key remote works. If both don't work check the fuses and the battery in your key remote. (A common fault).

I am not familiar with the 407 but I would think it is a HDi, if so what you describe is an air leak from a pipe from the pressure side of the turbo, I have had this on a Saab, in that case there was an over pressure switch under the dash and the pipe fell off. Look at the top of the engine, on the inlet side there will be a pipe from the inlet trunking or manifold, it should (maybe with a tee piece in there) go through the bulkhead
